Activities at Alice Grange Care Home

National celebrations and family-friendly events are just some of the ways that we ensure the residents at Alice Grange remain connected with their loved ones and the wider community.

Our Residents are preparing for a Harvest Festival event open to our local community and friends. They enjoyed an arts and crafts session making and wreaths ready for the celebrations.

Ensuring that we host events that relatives, friends and our local community can enjoy is very important to us here at Alice Grange. 

At Alice Grange we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends. We hold regular activities that help or residents use cognitive and motor skills to provide holistic benefits that enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents.

Our Residents have been growing fruit and tomatoes through the recent challenging weather. They enjoyed picking tomatoes and limes at this week gardening club then has a well deserved cuppa and a great laugh and chat.

Supporting our Residents to socialise through regular activities is a key feature of our lifestyle enrichment programme.

Woodbridge School of Dance joined us today for chair ballet, a delightful gentle way to enjoy chair-based exercise. Our Residents from Memory Lane joined in the fun too.

Exercise is a regular weekly feature of or life enrichment programme at Alice Grange.

Our Residents enjoyed the great weather this week and had fun creating colourful planters to be used around the Home.

There was a real buzz in the air as we celebrated International Bee Day. 

We made cookies, including honey, we shared stories of the importance of bees, and we came up with some amusing bee quotes alongside our bee quiz.    

Animal therapy is one of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program and features regularly on our resident-led weekly activity planner.

The Residents at Alice Grange enjoyed a visit from the Mini Donkeys and this even included individual room visits so all our Residents could enjoy.

Residents at Alice Grange love the animal therapy sessions that our dedicated Activities Team organises every month. As one of the foundations of our Life Enrichment program, we know that animal therapy can help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health. 

One of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program is live musical entertainment. Resident involvement in choosing genres along with feedback after each performance means that we are able to constantly improve our activities calendar.

Our Residents enjoyed a fully themed Western Wednesday. Cowboys hats on they enjoyed a special western menu and all our communities came together to enjoy some classic country and western favourites form one of thier favourite entertainers Ray. There were Yee ha's and yippee ki-yay's all around.

Exercise activities are a regular feature of the weekly activities planner. Our Residents at Alice Grange enjoy a range of activities including Arm Chair Zumba, Tai Chi, Chair Robic's and this week's included Arm Chair ball games.

Thanks to Suffolk Fire and Rescue for their informative visit to Alice Grange.  

Our residents really enjoyed their visit and asked loads of questions about their role and their equipment.

The bond that our residents share with local school children is so nice to see. 

Throughout the year, we have many visits from local schools with many intergenerational linking projects, playing games and sharing stories.   

Celebrating special events are a cornerstone of the life enrichment at Alice Grange Care Home. Ensuring that family and friends are involved ensures that every celebration creates special memories.

Our resident Gill and her husband Richard celebrated their 60th Diamond wedding anniversary and even recieved a card from the King. They spent this special day with family and held an early celebration at the home to kick off the celebrations in style.

At Alice Grange that's what we like to do - create memories, and ensure our residents are leading full enriched lives.

Our Activities Team is dedicated to ensuring that we organise events that encourage our residents to host their families and friends at Alice Grange. Our home is always to open to loved ones who wish to take part in our life enrichment program. 

Families and friends form the local community came together for a fun filled day. There were Entertainments, refreshments, BBQ and a well deserved Ice Cream. The weather was glorious and as you can see there were smiles all round.

Ensuring that we host events that relatives and friends can join is very important to us here at Alice Grange. 

Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program and all the trips we take are at the request of the residents. Our monthly activities calendar boasts a range of outings and entertainment.

Our residents were so pleased that the sun shone, as they had been waiting a long time to be able to enjoy the benefits of the Wheelyboat experience. Woolverstone Project provides enjoyment on the water, without the provision of accessible boats, disabled people are mostly denied experiences that able-bodied people take for granted. 

Pride Month is celebrated every year throughout June to honour the 1969 Stonewall Uprising and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. June is the global focal point, but many festivals take place throughout the summer months.

Our residents enjoyed our mini-parade and were proud to wear the colours of the rainbow. Thanks to Gus Young for his final performance at Alice Grange. We wish you all the best in your next Chapter.

Oxytocin, often known as the cuddle hormone, also helps to decrease stress and increase feelings of trust and bonding.  

Dopamine. The chemical reward gives a genuine neurological win. Thanks to Miss Georgie Bloom, for making it such a fun time enjoyed by all who joined us.
