Activities at Arbour Court Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Aimee Pickford
Hi, my name is Aimee and I'm the Activities Co-ordinator & Dementia Champion here at Arbour Court. In 2019 I received my Level 3 Health and Social Care and decided I wanted to help and enrich the lives of others.
I started working at Arbour Court in January 2021 as a Care Assistant and progressed to be a Senior Carer. In October 2023 I moved onto the activities team as an Activities Team Leader. I love my role as one of our homes Activities Co-ordinators and love to find new and exciting ways to engage our residents.
I am also a Dementia Champion and work closely with our General Manager, Lisa and other Dementia Champions to implement Barchester's Dementia Framework within the home.
Being part of Arbour Court's family is very rewarding and I feel lucky to work in a great environment.

Life at Arbour Court Care Home
Christmas Cake
Activities Coordinator, Joe, helped residents mix a huge Christmas cake in time for our Christmas party. Our cake was filled with sultanas, almonds, cherries, brandy and lots of love.
Nursery Visit
Residents were visited by some amazing children from a local nursery. They played, sang and just sat to talk with each other. It was amazing to see how much residents benefitted from playing with the children and to see such big smiles on their faces. We are hoping to do this more often, as it has such a positive impact on them.
Tablet Training
DMS brought in a huge 40 inch tablet for residents to familiarise themselves with They loved it; they played games, watched old music videos, enjoyed sensory tasks and much more. Residents really engaged in this activity and it was lovely to see.
A Little Visitor
Willow came to meet the residents here at Arbour Court. She took Gladys in particular and sat and played with her for an hour. They shared crisps, cuddled and sang together. Gladys had happy tears from spending time with Willow; it was beautiful to watch their relationship form. As Willow said goodbye to Gladys, they gave each other the biggest kiss – it was just magical!
Animal Intuition
Andy was kind enough to bring back all of his reptile friends for the residents. During his most recent visit, he brought a snake, a rabbit, a lizard and a centipede, much to the residents' delight.
Move It or Lose It!
Move it or Lose It is a company that comes in to host exercise classes for residents. They are trained in muscle skeletal exercises and work with individuals who usually aren't very mobile. This is Kath and volunteer, Ellie, enjoying our most recent session.
