Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Diane Wood

Head of Activities

Hi, my name is Diane and  I am Head of Activities here at Archview.  I have worked in the homes since 2009.

I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.

Outside of work,  I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Midlothian Council donate Christmas Tree

Residents and colleagues at Archview Lodge were delighted to accept a Christmas tree from Midlothian Council which is to be decorated and stand proudly at their front entrance for all to see.  Everyone at the home would like to thank them for their generosity.

Christmas decorations

With Christmas just around the corner, Residents have enjoyed fun-filled days with a variety of life enrichment activities from baking and decorating the Christmas cake, decorating the trees and adding that touch of sparkle and glitter to the home, virtual events and having a lot of fun along the way!

Live entertainment back on the agenda!

Residents are overjoyed at Archview Lodge the new visiting suite implemented by Barchester Healthcare means that not only can residents continue to spend time with their loved ones over the winter months but also live entertainment is finally back on the agenda.

Obviously during lockdown it wasn’t possible for Archview Lodge to have live performances but the new visitor suite means that small groups of residents can once again enjoy live entertainment.

Archview Lodge was delighted to invite Kirsty, a member of the bank staff at the home as one of the first to perform in the new visitor suite.  In small groups, the residents enjoyed listening to her beautiful voice.

Long service recognised

A member of the homes hospitality team at Archview has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10-years.

Carol Windsor started at Barchester in November 2010 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Remembrance

Archview commemorated Remembrance Day where they joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.

As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service, some residents also created a special remembrance tree which was displayed in the homes reception area.
