Activities at Ashcombe House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Michelle Martin
I’m a fun, loud and outgoing individual who loves organising fun activities for residents at Ashcombe House (and staff, if possible). I’m very creative and keep the residents very active, both mentally and physically In my spare time, I love doing a lot of fundraising, which usually ends up with me sliding in mud.

Surprise Party
Staff & residents hosted a surprise 40th birthday party for General Manager, Louise lambert. Decorations, party food, fun and a very competitive 'pass the parcel' game was enjoyed by all. Louise had no idea about the party, so it really was a lovely surprise, and residents enjoyed being able to celebrate this with Louise.
Movie Night
Residents enjoyed watching 'Singing in the Rain', swooning at Gene Kelly and singing along to the classic movie. Movie nights have become a firm favourite. All we need to remember is the popcorn!
Harvest Festival
Residents enjoyed a sensory experience making bread for an inter-home harvest festival competition. Making the bread dough brought back lots of fond memories of childhood and how their mothers always baked their own bread. Residents made an amazing display to showcase all their work which has been enjoyed by everyone in the home.
Pet Therapy
We were lucky to have two kittens that were only 2 weeks old come for a visit: Izzy & Kenny. The kittens made room visits, which was really enjoyed by all and left everyone smiling.
The kittens are being hand reared after their mother fell poorly. Everyone is excited about their next visit to see how much they have grown. Pets bring great therapeutic qualities to residents and can help with mood and self-esteem.
Century Celebrations
Resident, Ernest, celebrated his 100th Birthday with us. Invites were sent to all residents to come and enjoy the celebrations.
The ‘Queen’ arrived to wish Ernest a happy birthday and to deliver a special card from HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Ernest family were able to come and visit and see the celebrations, but from a safe distance due to restrictions, but Ernest was over the moon that they could still come on this very special day.
Circus Fun
A circus-themed day was enjoyed in the home's garden with balloon modelling in the morning making sausage dogs and novelty hats to wear. The fun continued with circus music whilst clowns served up a bbq lunch and in the afternoon circus-themed bingo ended the day.
