Activities at Ashcombe House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Michelle Martin
I’m a fun, loud and outgoing individual who loves organising fun activities for residents at Ashcombe House (and staff, if possible). I’m very creative and keep the residents very active, both mentally and physically In my spare time, I love doing a lot of fundraising, which usually ends up with me sliding in mud.

Life at Ashcombe House Care Home
Bake-Off
We host a baking club every week, where residents get to decide what we're making. With Christmas just around the corner, everyone decided that mince pies would go down lovely with an afternoon coffee.
Baking club is for everyone; some like to be hands-on whilst others prefer to supervise – and some of us just like to taste the results.
Cracking Tunes
Vic Cracknell entertained us with some old classics from yesteryear. Residents named a year and Vic played a top hit from then. We had a good ol' singalong in the afternoon, and even some dance moves were mixed in.
Balloon Tennis
Exercising can sometimes become a bit boring, but not here at Ashcombe House. When we play balloon tennis we use our hands, heads and even our feet to bat the balloons across to each other. It was surprising how competitive residents can be.
Zoolab Returns
Zoolab visited with some special creepy crawlies for Halloween. We were treated to a giant African land snail, hissing cockroaches, a millipede, a snake, a rat and everyone’s favourite: Charlie the gecko. We all learnt lots about their various habitats and were able to hold all the animals.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Ashcombe had a ‘latte’ fun hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning; the residents baked cookies and cakes for the event. We were joined by lots of friends and family for a chat and a cuppa, and managed to raise an amazing £54.50 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Lasham Garden Centre
A group of ladies enjoyed a trip out shopping and having some lunch at Lasham Garden Centre. The centre has a wonderful shop that sells a variety of things, and we all came back with something. Chatting around the table the ladies enjoyed a wonderful home-cooked lunch.
