Activities at Ashcombe House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Michelle Martin
I’m a fun, loud and outgoing individual who loves organising fun activities for residents at Ashcombe House (and staff, if possible). I’m very creative and keep the residents very active, both mentally and physically In my spare time, I love doing a lot of fundraising, which usually ends up with me sliding in mud.

Lunch in the Garden
Some residents enjoyed lunch in the garden as the weather has been so spectacular lately. They had a chance to get to know each other better whilst enjoying a nice meal and a glass or two of rosé wine out in the sunshine.
Pet Therapy
One of our Carers recently adopted three beautiful orphan kittens. She kindly bought them in to show some of the residents and one resident in particular was very overjoyed and loved having cuddles with them.
Out & About
Residents enjoyed a lovely outing and a picnic with sandwiches, a quiche, crisps, fresh fruit and doughnuts. This was followed by a stop at the pub to quench our thirst with a nice cold beer or glass of vino, where we were greeted by some local ducks.
Musical Magic
Singer, Betsy, visited us and put on a wonderful performance in the garden, taking residents back to their younger years by covering songs from Dusty Springfield, Cilla Black, The Beatles and many others. Residents seem to love a good ol' sing along!
Zoolab
Zoolab came for a visit and brought with them a host of different animals. The residents enjoyed asking questions and finding out about each of the animals. We were able to have a hold of them which showed us that some of us are braver than other!! The animals included, a snake, tortoise, giant snail, giant cockroach, tarantula and even a guinea pig which was everyone’s favourite.
Trip to Little Basing
Residents enjoyed a trip out in the minibus on a beautiful sunny day to Little Basing with a stop at Barton’s Mill to enjoy a cold drink in the beer garden. The ducks came up from the river to see what crumbs we had left from our crisps. One resident stated how this was the life and would happily have stayed all day.
