Activities at Ashfields Care Home
At Ashfields, we strive to make our care and services as person-centred as we possibly can, and this includes our provision of activities. We will give prospective residents a 'Getting to Know Me' booklet to fill out with their loved ones before their arrival, which includes a little life history and a tick sheet for a vast amount of activities. This enables us to offer bespoke activities and helps us to learn valuable information about residents and what might stimulate them in conversations and trips.
Our specialist activities and lifestyle staff make sure there are always meaningful activities to take part in, such as gardening, baking and trips out to various locations nearby, including local cathedrals, cafés, garden centres and much more.
Residents are encouraged to take part and we try to get every person out at least once a month to places they might be interested in visiting, but it is always their choice, ultimately. We believe that having choice is very integral in helping residents feel that they still have control of their lives.
Activities are provided by everyone in our home, from Carers and specialised activities staff, right through to the admin team.
We are a registered member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), which means that we are always working to make the quality of life of all residents as high as possible by offering person-centred activities that aim to stimulate both mentally and physically.

Xen Greenwood
My name is Xen and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at Ashfields.
I have experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles. In my own time I love to go antique shopping and making crafts.
I love being part of the Ashfields team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel its important for the residents to have the opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Ashfields Care Home

Pub Club
We have a weekly pub club here at Ashfields where residents can enjoy sampling various stouts, lagers, ales, and ciders before joining in our competitive ‘pub’ quiz. It’s a lovely social atmosphere for all involved and we all look forward to it.

Summer fete
We had a wonderful turnout for this year’s summer fete which included two live musical entertainers, a delicious BBQ, garden games and a charity fundraising tombola. The sun was shining and many laughs were had in good company.

Cruises, cocktails and canapes!
We had a musical cruise around the world where we were serenaded by the wonderful Svelta who played her accordion and sung to us in seven different languages! Residents enjoyed fruity themed cocktail’s and tasty canapes as they enjoyed the music.

Singing and Dancing!
We were very happy to welcome Johnny Laff back to Ashfields for an afternoon of live musical entertainment and impressionistic comedy for our residents to enjoy. Everyone had a good laugh, and a soulful sing along to come classic ‘golden oldies’.

4th July Celebrations
We celebrated the fourth of July here at Ashfields with an All-American cookout in the sunshine, with members of the local community coming along for a star-spangled afternoon of food & fun. Many residents have travelled to the states previously and were delighted to relive the tradition alongside their family and friends.

National Cream Tea Day
We celebrated National cream tea day with a delicious spread of tea, coffee, scones, pastries and cakes all baked by our award-winning head chef. A group of our lovely ladies spent the afternoon in our quiet lounge, listening to classical music and loving the excuse to try as many tasty treats as they wanted while enjoyed each other’s company.
