Activities at Ashlar House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Rita Green
As the Community Engagement Lead and Lifestyle Coordinator, I will be spending time with each resident and their loved ones to build a detailed picture of each individual, so that each person’s stay with us is as meaningful as possible. Although I have been working within this field for many years, thanks to the uniqueness of each resident, I am always enjoying new experiences in my role. My goal is to create an activities programme that caters to the capabilities of residents, including, but not limited to, individual and group activity.
I've spent the past few years forging strong relationships within the community and developing a pool of talented individuals that can support our in-house team to bring out the best in those we care for.
As we never stop growing and changing, it is important that we maintain an up-to-date Getting To Know Me booklet. With your help, the activities scheduled for your loved ones will be as relevant and enjoyable as possible.
I’m very much looking forward to working with all of you.

Life at Ashlar House Care Home
Festive Day
We had a busy and festive day. Today several of our residents were invited to a dress rehearsal for the nativity play at Ivy Chimney School where upon arrival were welcomed with tea, mince pies and handmade Christmas cards. In the afternoon Coopersale Hall school choral choir visited our home and sang a selection of Christmas carols which had our residents singing along and some from tears of joy.
Remembrance Day
Squadron 414 made a special visit to our home in honour of Remembrance Day to hand out poppies to each of our residents. Our newest residents and their families spent time talking with the visiting Air Cadets, exchanging stories of their pasts and talking about their loved ones.
Halloween Preparations
Ashlar House went to town decorating our home with a whole host of colourful displays scattered around the home.
Gemini Fashion Returns
Bringing high street shopping experience into our home allows residents to continue to have independence and express choices, which leads to fun and being creative.
Wild Science Experience
The benefits of Animal Therapy are well documented. Simple interactions such stroking is beneficial for our seniors.
Different animals bring different textures and personalities to the session. A mixture of cute fluffy animals and silky smooth reptiles provide a great experience.
Animal Therapy is the ideal way for our residents who may be less mobile to interact with animals and benefit from a new and unique experience across our home.
Arts & Crafts
Arts and crafts morning was enjoyed by those who participated. This activity improves the creative and social skills of the residents.
The designed plates will be send off site for firing and glazing. The items will be send back for our residents and displayed at the home to show their artistic skills.
