Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Halloween celebrations

Here at Iddenshall Hall we got into the spooky Halloween spirit of things by creating an autumnal display with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.

We hosted a fun-filled party in the afternoon with delicious Halloween inspired treats, mocktails and themed music.

Some of our residents preferred to paint and decorate pumpkins and to dress up for the occasion, others got involved in themed quizzes and games, and enjoyed watching Halloween films.

We all had a spooktacular time.

An unfamiliar face!

If you should be visiting us you may be greeted my an unfamiliar face!

We recently enjoyed a creative arts and crafts session where we created our very own scarecrow as we continue our autumnal displays.  Residents and colleagues had a lot of laughs whilst stuffing our scarecrow with one resident remarking “I have not laughed so much for a long time stuffing those arms and legs”.

World's Biggest Coffee Morning

In recognition of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, we hosted our very own garden event for friends, families and community members to raise funds for the charity.

The garden was specially decorated for the occasion, our talented chef prepared a variety of cakes, cupcakes and delicious treats following Macmillan Cancer Support’s recipes and we all got involved in fun-filled games.

We all had a wonderful day raising funds for this lovely cause.

History of wine with Unity Wines

We had a lovely time joining Hospitality Manager, Christophe Noel and special guests Lee Isaacs DipWSET and Nick Parker from Unity Wines and Spirits – as they introduced us to wine tasting techniques, the history of wine and wine making, as well as consumer attitudes.

Our residents had the opportunity to try a variety of wines from sparkling and white to rose and red, alongside a selection of delicious treats.

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.

International Housekeeping Week

In recognition of International Housekeeping Week, we would like to acknowledge and say a big thank you to our Housekeeping Team at the home.

During the week, we spent time learning interesting facts about housekeepers from Victorian times to present day, and our residents reminisced about housekeeping and how it has changed over the years with all the inventions that have brought change into modern homes.

We wrote thank you cards to our housekeepers and looked at old adverts for cleaning brands, which many of our residents remembered.

The seasons are changing

Residents of Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View are welcoming the change of seasons from Summer to Autumn. They have made the most of the warm weather in our beautiful gardens this week and have been commenting on the leaves changing colour. Today we have had a relaxing and creative afternoon capturing the wonderful colours of the Autumn leaves in our watercolour paintings.
