Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Luisa Painemilla
Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.
I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.
My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.
Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Outdoor bowls
Residents at Iddenshall Hall made the most of the warmer weather and enjoyed a game of bowls in the homes extensive grounds.
The Residents really got into the spirit of things, there was even a spot of healthy competition between!
One Resident commented, “ I can’t believe how mild it is for March and another one remarked, “I’m unbeatable at this!”.
Another remarked, “It's good to get as much fresh air as possible, especially when the weather is like this".
Theatre inspired virtual talk
We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’. ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!
Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.
Gardening Club
The weather may be wet and windy outside but that has not stopped the residents in Beeston View thinking about spring and summer.
We are very proud of our balcony garden upstairs in Beeston View and after successfully growing tomatoes from seed last year we decided to try our hand at growing cucumbers and peppers too. We spent an enjoyable morning starting our growing journey by preparing the seed trays and planting the seeds. We’re now waiting patiently for the little green shoots to appear.
Nutrition and Hydration Week
Our residents and staff are taking part in this year’s Nutrition and Hydration Week. Throughout the week, we will focus on fun-filled educational activities on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing, sensory and tasting sessions.
Today we started the week by preparing and enjoying a Brilliant Breakfast! Our residents enjoyed cutting up an array of fresh fruit including strawberries, raspberries blueberries & banana and then chose which they would like to top their Weetabix. Most chose to taste all!
Everyone agreed that this was the perfect way to start the day.
Politics and Passion at Cliveden
We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.
The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.
Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.
The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.
Romantic blooms
Love was in the air at Iddenshall Hall for Valentine’s as Residents joined our popular flower arranging club to create colourful floral displays to display throughout the home, both the roses and foliage had been especially picked from the homes extensive grounds.
Residents shared their favourite romantic moments before settling down to taste jelly hearts covered in chocolate and a cup of tea!
