Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Luisa Painemilla
Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.
I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.
My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.
Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

World Book Day
Staff and residents spent quality time together on World Book Day reading special books and discussing them in small groups.
Anniversary Celebrations
A resident at Beeston View celebrated a special wedding anniversary recently. It was his first anniversary living away from home, so we decided to make the day extra special for him and his wife.
We set up a table for two in his room and our Activities Coordinator, Lynne, acted as their own personal waitress throughout the meal, serving all courses and some wine for them to enjoy together as husband and wife.
A Bit of Gardening
We have just started to revamp our courtyard space at Beeston View. Our gardener, Chris, and one of our volunteers, have started by cleaning up the paving and flower beds and they have some very grand plans for turning it in to something really special for the residents to enjoy once the weather turns nice again.
Bird is the Word
Residents and staff have been making some bird boxes that we will be using to decorate our garden-themed corridor. They have enjoyed working together on this project, as they have have really bonded throughout the process.
Karaoke Wednesdays
Karaoke Wednesdays are proving extremely popular with Beeston View residents; they love belting out a tune from their younger days. Residents can request any song they want and we can play it for them, along with the words, which are displayed on our TV screen. Men and women alike are finding this a great way to spend a couple of hours. Our staff love taking part too and can often be seen grabbing the microphone and joining in.
Puzzling!
Jigsaws are a great way to engage residents; they provide a sense of completion and satisfaction once finished. They allow residents to use their motor skills and provide a topic of conversation, which may trigger a memory or two!
