Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Luisa Painemilla
Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.
I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.
My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.
Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Indoor Gardening
We have been paying attention to the sensory needs of the residents at Beeston View, so, as well as creating a sensory garden and balcony, we are also creating other sensory areas throughout the home, indoors.
Most recently, we put together an indoor herb garden for residents to stimulate their sense of smell. The herbs are situated near the kitchen in the dining room, in the hopes that the smells from the herbs will stimulate their taste buds too and encourage eating at meal times.
Cocktail Afternoon
We hosted a cocktail afternoon at Beeston View as part of Nutrition & Hydration Week. We created our own cocktails, such as cranberry mojitos, coconut and lime juice fizz, beeston blueberry fizz, cranberry and raspberry blasts and pineapple twists. It was a fun way to keep residents hydrated.
Healthy Eating
We have been making pots of overnight for residents to enjoy as healthy snacks or for a light breakfast. Residents helped assemble them by layering fruit, yoghurt and oats into dishes, which we then left in the fridge overnight to soak up the juices. We are looking forward to sampling them!
Boxing at Beeston
We have had another visit by Andy from Ride, who stops by once a month to help with our fall prevention initiative. This time round, Andy concentrated on boxing with residents, which they really get enthusiastic about.
Nutrition & Hydration Week
We celebrated Hydration & Nutrition Week at Beeston View with a varied activities schedule.
On Monday, we served fresh fruit during our Breakfast & Brunch Club; Tuesday was 'Wacky Snacky Day', on Wednesday we had a special tea party in the afternoon, on Thursday we concentrated on hydration, with a selection of wonderfully flavoured drinks and mocktails on offer; Friday was 'Fruity Friday', with fruit kebabs and selected fruit cordials; on Saturday we made smoothies, and on Sunday, we created sundaes with ice cream, fruit, cream and yoghurt.
It was varied week full of delicious treats. We have put up displays in both Beeston View and Iddenshall Hall to draw attention to the importance of hydration and nutrition within the home, and we have left quizzes out for visitors so that they can test themselves.
Shrove Tuesday
We celebrated Shrove Tuesday by serving pancakes to residents as an afternoon treat. We topped our pancakes with lemon and sugar or banana and chocolate sauce; some residents even had lemon, sugar, banana and chocolate sauce all on one pancake! They went down a treat.
