Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre
We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.

Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.
I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.
The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.
I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Bloomfield Care Centre
Shopping Day!
Two of our residents at Bloomfield asked if they would be able to go shopping and how much they missed doing this. So they decided that Shepton Mallet was a good place to go as they used to go there before. We set off with shopping lists and lots of ideas, Betty wanted a new top and Christine wanted a new scarf before the winter sets in. We also popped into Aldi for a look around to get some ideas for baking and garden club. Betty and Christine said how much they enjoyed the shopping trip and look forward to the next one.
Oakham Treasures Museum
We all enjoy trips out here at Bloomfield so asked our residents where they would like go and choose Oakham Treasures. David and Frank looked around all the valued treasures remembering many from days gone by. David and Frank both enjoyed tractors and motorbikes as they both come from a mechanical backgrounds and Frank found a tractor the same as one he had.
Visiting the Garden Centre
At Bloomfield we love our garden and prepping the beds and pots. Brian Peter and Ruth had a look around the plants and choose one of their favourite plant like they had in their own gardens. We looked at the spring flowing bulbs and choose some to plant back at Bloomfield. Everyone enjoyed the morning out and said that they look forward to visiting again soon.
Arts and Crafts
Our very talented residents really enjoy arts and crafts. Eileen used to paint at home and now continues with this. She said that she would like to continue with this. We made some bunting to put up in the home and a lovely tree of life for Nelson Mandela day.
The Mayor of the West of England visits
The mayor of the west of England, Dan Norris, came to visit us when Willow from Sing-a-ling and the children from Little Stars nursery were here for music and fun. We like to bring young and older people together and enjoy the music and the children take part and now have become a regular activity which we all look forward to.
Our Garden Club
Here at Bloomfield we all enjoy taking part in our garden club, residents families and friend have joined in. Frank took a spade and helped with the digging something that he did in his own garden we shared stories about favourite plants and growing veg. Lots of ideas were collected for our flower beds for next season.
