Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre
We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.

Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.
I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.
The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.
I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Bloomfield Care Centre
VE Day celebrations
VE Day was celebrated with lots of reminiscing about that day Jean said she remembered a big street party with neighbours and family joining in, Busty was stuck in Newcastle between posting and spent time in the pub. Afterwards we held a quiz and enjoyed lots of cake and cups of tea.
Grimsbury farm
Today we took to our mini bus and went on a trip to Grimsbury Animal Farm, we had lots of fun petting the animals and walking around the farm Peter said he enjoyed the baby goats and the pigs which were very friendly and would like to visit again.
Ladies Social Afternoon
Enjoying the sunshine in our garden here at Bloomfield our ladies had some tasty snacks from our kitchen prepared by our chef Pav and his team. Jean and Trish sipped mock tails which they said were lovely and just the thing to have on such a nice sunny day.
Mayor visit at Easter
As part of our Easter celebrations we had a raffle which was supported by family and friends, the Mayor of Midsomer Norton Gordon Mackay picked out our winning raffle ticket prizes with some help from Trish and Brian. The Easter Bunnies delivered everyone an Easter Egg Eileen was thrilled to bits with hers, it brought a smile to everyone’s faces. Sarah night staff won the main prize and was in a chocolate happy place she said that she never wins.
Hydration and Nutrition week
Each year we celebrate Hydration and Nutrition week where our wonderful chefs in our kitchen promote Hydration and Nutrition delivering amazing meals and different drinks. We started with a full English which Ted and Teddy thoroughly enjoyed Terry said this is the meal he enjoys and a good way to start the day. We also had a buffet tea with a great selection of finger foods. Jean and Sarah said how nice the scones and cream were, and Peter tasted some flavoured teas which he said he would have again especially the raspberry one.
Cheddar Gorge
Our residents really enjoy getting out in our mini bus, we took a trip to Cheddar Gorge saw lots of goats in the Gorge. Trish Jean Doris and Ted said how nice it was to get out to see the countryside. We also went past where the Cheddar strawberries are grown Trish said how nice it would be to come and pick some strawberries when they are grown and take back to Bloomfield for a cream tea.
