Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre

We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.

Cathy Jallow

Activities Coordinator

Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.

I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.

The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.

I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.

Life at Bloomfield Care Centre

Misty Pet therapy pooch

Misty is back, along with owner Spike to give our residents some much needed furry company. She has been so missed by residents and staff alike. See you next week Misty

Home Church service resumes

Our residents really enjoy their weekly church services, although staff at Bloomfield made sure life carried on as well as it could recently with zoom services, staff standing in and taking the service. Nothing beats seeing Rev Martin Slocombe in the home and doing what he does best.

Sunday Soccer, Cider & Snacks

Lazy Sunday afternoon, whilst the roast is cooking we sat around the TV watched one of the best games ever. Washed down with a little tipple of beer or cider and shared out the snacks. We made sure there was still room for our delicious lunch though.

International Nurses Day

Every day we thank our Nurses for the wonderful work they do for us and how they make Bloomfield brilliant. But on Nurses day, It was all about them. There was a presentation with chocolates and certificates for everyone followed by afternoon tea complete with music and lots of laughter. We even took to the local town with homemade cupcakes to give thanks to all those nurses working in our community that we couldn't be without.

Grow a sunflower with us.

We recently visited some local schools and the cubs with bags of sunflower seeds soil and pots. Everything they need to grow a sunflower at home. We will be having a competition a to who can grow the tallest one.

100 years young

Gaye has been a volunteer with Bloomfield for over 15 years. She has played the organ at many a church service and also entertained our residents. We were delighted to surprise her for her 100th birthday recently with flowers and chocolate. We are looking forward to her coming back to see us again soon.
