Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre
We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.
Cathy Jallow
Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.
I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.
The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.
I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Bloomfield Care Centre
Weekend full of Easter fun
What a weekend everyone had this Easter. There was Card making, Egg deliveries, Cupcake making, Virtual quizzes linking up with many other Barchester homes and of course visits from loved ones too. All washed down with plenty of tea and chocolate.
Easter calls to the family
We understand that any communication with family is so special. So when the family are unable to make it down for Easter we surprise them with calls from home. The smile says it all.
Mary Quant Virtual talk
Staff and residents at Bloomfield were treated to a virtual talk about Mary Quant’s influence on the world of fashion by V&A Dundee curator, Mhairi Maxwell. The talk forms part of a series of six talks and virtual tours that V&A Dundee is hosting for Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and private hospitals across the UK. Everyone said the talk was fascinating and transported them back to the swinging sixties.
St Patrick's Day Celebrations
Residents and staff at Bloomfield celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day this week. The home was decorated with shamrocks and everyone got dressed up to mark the day. They all enjoyed a nip of whiskey or a drop of Guinness, whilst having fun at the virtual horse racing afternoon
Family reunions as visiting is back
For residents at Bloomfield, the long awaited reunion with one family member has become a reality, as one single named visitor is now allowed to visit each resident in their bedroom.
Gail, General Manager, said: “This is the first cautious step towards having a buzz of visitors in the home again. It is wonderful to see how happy it made the residents and their relatives. We have a great booking system in place to ensure the visits are well organised, and visitors are doing a great job of following the safety measures to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Our Magic table comes to life
Bloomfield recently bought a bit of magic to residents by providing a new magic table 360 into the home. It is another way to improve residents quality of life. It can be projected onto almost any surface and has a range of sensory games and images to suit everyone. It is such a welcomed addition to our home and we know it will get lots of use.
