Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre
We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.
Cathy Jallow
Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.
I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.
The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.
I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Bloomfield Care Centre
Open Day
Bloomfield Care Centre had an open day on 6th July, where local communities attended and celebrated with the residents. A buffet lunch was provided along with entertainment from Danny Guest and Paulton Brass band. Everyone had fun and enjoyed the day.
Cupcake Afternoon
On Thursday 13th June, Bloomfield said thank you to its care team by holding a cupcake afternoon. Chocolate were presented to our carers to say thank you for all the hard work they do on a daily basis to support our residents.
The Big Lunch
On Sunday 2nd June, we hosted 'The Big Lunch', where members of the community were invited into the home to share a buffet lunch and spend the afternoon with residents and the team. As you can see, a great time was had by all!
May Day Celebrations
Residents in our Memory Lane community enjoyed May Day celebrations, which included a maypole dance that was hosted by Lauren from Golden Toes.
Dementia Friends
On Thursday 28th March, Bloomfield hosted a Dementia Friends session. The community was invited to attend in order to raise awareness of the challenges someone faces within their journey with dementia.
We really want to make our community more dementia-friendly, and it is important that awareness around the challenges people and their loved ones face is raised.
Mother's Day
Bloomfield held a Mother's Day event, and it was a huge success! We were visited by local school children and members of the community, who all joined in with the celebrations. Senior Care Assistant, Gillian Peppard, crotched floral broaches for all the ladies, and local church members made posies of flowers that were distributed by the kids.
