Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre
We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.
Cathy Jallow
Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.
I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.
The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.
I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Bloomfield Care Centre
National Dementia Awareness Week
The residents of Bloomfield's Memory Lane enjoyed expressing themselves with cupcake creations, which will raise funds in recognition of National Dementia Awareness Week. Baking is incredibly important in a care setting, as it can build self-esteem and give purpose to an individual's everyday life. The day was topped off by a special Songs of Praise service, where more money was raised for the cause.
Falksy Theatre
We had a lovely visit from Falksy Theatre. The residents had a great time watching a production of The Wind in the Willows; a really lovely afternoon was had by all who were in the company of Ratty, Mr. Toad and Badger.
International Nurses' Day at Bloomfield
Bloomfield celebrated International Nurses' Day by treating them to gifts and homemade cards from the residents of Memory Lane. May 12th commemorates the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered to be the founder of modern nursing.
The Birds of Bloomfield
Here at Bloomfield's Memory Lane, we know just how important it is to stay active. That’s why the residents enjoy daily activities that stimulate the body and the mind. Recently, they were lucky enough to spend time with some animals of the avian variety - and it seems like they really enjoyed themselves!
Toe-Tapping Entertainment at Bloomfield
Yesterday one of our favourite entertainers, Rebecca Hasselhurst, came to treat the residents with songs from the shows. The pre-lunch show was toe-tappingly marvellous and had the entire community of Mendip View singing out loud and working up an appetite.
