Activities at Bluebell Park Care Home
Here at Bluebell Park our aim is to enrich the lives of our residents, through group, and individual activities.
We have a wide range of activities designed to mentally, and physically stimulate the people we care for, including regular trips out in the mini bus, and taking part in the community led events that happen in the village we live in. We hold monthly resident meetings so our planning reflects their wishes, and requests, for example we now hold a regular bingo club (which residents families love to attend) and a bowling afternoon which the gentlemen here particularly enjoy. Entertainers and musicians regularly come into the home and families and friends are always welcome to attend too.
Activities are one of the most important aspects of our care home, and we strive to have a full range on offer. Our team here at Bluebell are dedicated to ensuring our residents enjoy, and get as much out of our entertainment as possible. It is without a doubt our mission is to make sure that life at Bluebell is active, fun, and most of all happy.
Leanne Lowe
Hello. My name is Leanne Lowe and I am the Activity Coordinator for Bluebell Park.
I have worked for Barchester for 6 years as a Carer and I have now made the move to Activities.
During my time here I have built lovely friendships and knowledge of our residents . I aim to offer a range of varied and tailored activities and group sessions that are meaningful to each of our residents. I am thrilled to be supporting the whole team at Bluebell Park in delivering fun, engaging and interesting activities for our residents. We also have a minibus which is used weekly to take residents out to cafes, local beauty spots and day trips.

Life at Bluebell Park Care Home
Easter celebrations and crafts
We celebrated Easter in style with a whole host of themed activities and egg-cellent entertainment.
Our residents enjoyed decorating the home, painting eggs; attending a church service; making hot cross buns; a special visit from our Easter bunny, it was fun filled week of celebrations.
In recognition of the day, our talented chef prepared a delicious feast for all to enjoy, from carrot soup, roasted lamb and salmon with creamed spinach to tasty chocolate cake and Easter biscuits.
As always, we’ve had an amazing time.
Chinese Language Day
We marked Chinese Language Day. Our residents took part in an educational session, where they learnt some Chinese words, phrases and explored the Chinese traditions and culture.
We’ve visited the Great Wall of China virtually and watched a video about the largest cities in China, which many of our residents found impressive. A lovely day was had by all.
The Astor's at Cliveden
Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service. The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.
The Astors time at Cliveden came to an end in the 1960 s after the estate became infamously associated with Profumo Affair, but the house and garden continue to reflect their innovations and passions. We all had a brilliant time.
Walk through a landscape
We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings. The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour. We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.
St Patrick's Day
Today we celebrated St Patrick’s Day in recognition of the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland.
The home was decorated with shamrocks and we all enjoyed exploring the Irish culture through a variety of themed activities.
Mother's Day
Our home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting in recognition of Mother’s Day and all the mothers in our home.
During the day, we arranged individual flowers and created hand-made cards during our arts and crafts. Our residents got creative and made their own flower bouquets and flower frames, as they enjoyed a variety of yummy sweet and savoury treats.
