Activities at Bluebell Park Care Home

Here at Bluebell Park our aim is to enrich the lives of our residents, through group, and individual activities.

We have a wide range of activities designed to mentally, and physically stimulate the people we care for, including regular trips out in the mini bus, and taking part in the community led events that happen in the village we live in. We hold monthly resident meetings so our planning reflects their wishes, and requests, for example we now hold a regular bingo club (which residents families love to attend) and a bowling afternoon which the gentlemen here particularly enjoy. Entertainers and musicians regularly come into the home and families and friends are always welcome to attend too.

Activities are one of the most important aspects of our care home, and we strive to have a full range on offer. Our team here at Bluebell are dedicated to ensuring our residents enjoy, and get as much out of our entertainment as possible. It is without a doubt our mission is to make sure that life at Bluebell is active, fun, and most of all happy.

Leanne Lowe

Activity Coordinator

Hello.  My name is Leanne Lowe and I am the Activity Coordinator for Bluebell Park.

I have worked for Barchester for 6 years as a Carer and I have now made the move to Activities.

During my time here I have built lovely friendships and knowledge of our residents . I aim to offer a range of varied and tailored activities and group sessions that are meaningful to each of our residents.  I am thrilled to be supporting the whole team at Bluebell Park in delivering fun, engaging and interesting activities for our residents. We also have a minibus which is used weekly to take residents out to cafes, local beauty spots and day trips.

Life at Bluebell Park Care Home

Virtual coffee experience

We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.

We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.

To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.

Valentine's inspired cookery demo

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration.  Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.

Reminiscence session

Residents of Bluebell Park enjoyed a reminiscence session over afternoon tea, the homes hospitality team whipped up a delicious spread with everyone enjoying the treats.  It was a busy day as we also enjoyed life entertainment.

Spa Day

Residents at Bluebell care home enjoyed an afternoon of pampering as they were given a hand and nail therapy session. The team at the home were on hand to provide the hour long pamper session, with residents enjoying treats such as cakes and refreshments whilst being given manicures and hand treatments. There was even a cheeky glass of sherry or two!

Keeping active together

Keeping active, having social interactions and being mentally stimulated is very important to Residents at Bluebell Park.   Residents took advantage of Oomph live exercise class.

Every got really competitive, everyone wanted to beat each other and Residents really got into the activity.

As part of the homes life enrichment programme, the activities coordinators include firm favourites in the homes calendar with fun-filled adapted games that they played over the years in a safe environment!

Festive sing-a-long

This afternoon we enjoyed a festive sing-a-long here at Bluebell Park raising the roof with our musical renditions. We had a selection of cheeses from around the world, served with crackers and delicious chutney, washed down with wine and of course no festive afternoon would be without home-made mince pies to indulge in!
