Activities at Bluebell Park Care Home
Here at Bluebell Park our aim is to enrich the lives of our residents, through group, and individual activities.
We have a wide range of activities designed to mentally, and physically stimulate the people we care for, including regular trips out in the mini bus, and taking part in the community led events that happen in the village we live in. We hold monthly resident meetings so our planning reflects their wishes, and requests, for example we now hold a regular bingo club (which residents families love to attend) and a bowling afternoon which the gentlemen here particularly enjoy. Entertainers and musicians regularly come into the home and families and friends are always welcome to attend too.
Activities are one of the most important aspects of our care home, and we strive to have a full range on offer. Our team here at Bluebell are dedicated to ensuring our residents enjoy, and get as much out of our entertainment as possible. It is without a doubt our mission is to make sure that life at Bluebell is active, fun, and most of all happy.
Leanne Lowe
Hello. My name is Leanne Lowe and I am the Activity Coordinator for Bluebell Park.
I have worked for Barchester for 6 years as a Carer and I have now made the move to Activities.
During my time here I have built lovely friendships and knowledge of our residents . I aim to offer a range of varied and tailored activities and group sessions that are meaningful to each of our residents. I am thrilled to be supporting the whole team at Bluebell Park in delivering fun, engaging and interesting activities for our residents. We also have a minibus which is used weekly to take residents out to cafes, local beauty spots and day trips.

Life at Bluebell Park Care Home
Mothers Day
We celebrated Mother’s Day throughout the week. The home was decorated with Mother’s Day Banners. The ladies took the opportunity to do some flower arranging. We also had Wine served with the meals to make it that extra bit special. We then had All Around the Shire’s visit for a special reminiscence show. Overall it was a day enjoyed by many.
Historic Royal Palaces
Our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session. Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!
We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.
Book Club Corner
Across our services, our residents had a lovely time joining Mark Piesing for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘N-4 Down: The Hunt for The Arctic Airship Italia’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fascinating story of the world-famous exploring airship Italia, returning from the North Pole on May 24, 1928. The airship was struck by a terrible storm and crashed somewhere over the Arctic ice, triggering the largest polar rescue mission in history.
The virtual book club experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Valentines Display & Show
Today we Celebrated Valentine’s Day. We made a lovely display for our Reception area. We also had 'All Around The Shire’s' visit and do us a Valentine’s Day Show.
International Chocolate Cake Day
Residents at Bluebell Park have spent the day baking chocolate cakes! In celebration of International Chocolate Cake Day, the residents got stuck in taking turns whisking, whipping and mixing a lovely Chocolate Brownie Cake. We all later enjoyed our efforts as we tucked in to our Chocolate cake, served with fresh Fruit and Whipped Cream. Delicious!
International Puzzle Day
Here at Bluebell Park, we celebrated International Puzzle Day with a day of various games and puzzles. Some residents enjoyed a game of Scrabble while others opted to try their hand a some jigsaw puzzles. We also had some classic puzzle books and a quiz. Puzzles and games are a gret way to keep minds active and to encourage social interactions. Everyone has had a great day!
