Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Chocolate delight for Residents
Residents enjoyed an afternoon of fun with Fiona as they took part in a very indulgent afternoon of truffle dipping, butterscotch centre before dipping into white chocolate and decorated with raspberries and more chocolate! These mouth-watering treats are sure to satisfy any chocolate lover! Everyone had a lovely time.
Decorating the cakes
Residents of Boroughbridge Manor have been busy showing their creative sides as they decorated the homes Christmas cakes, not one but three! The cakes will be entered into Barchester’s annual and popular Christmas cake competition.
The home has also being busy getting into the festive spirit in decorating the trees and hanging the decorations and everyone is delighted with how the home looks
Life enrichment for Residents
The fun and laughter has continued at Boroughbridge Manor as residents recently enjoyed trying arts and craft sessions and showing their creative sides as they created cards for their loved ones - fun brightly coloured leaf hedgehog cards, keeping active with their armchair exercises and music and movement sessions.
Residents at Boroughbridge Manor enjoy the homes engaging activities programmes consisting of virtual concerts from popular local entertainers, virtual worship services, armchair exercise sessions and have taken to Skype and WhatsApp to their nearest and dearest arranged by the homes’ activities team for residents within the home and local community groups.
Residents benefitting from therapy dolls
Residents enjoy doll therapy at Boroughbridge Manor and have been spending some quality time with their therapy dolls who resemble newborn babies. Neil Todd, General Manager said: “The dolls are greatly loves by all of the residents and give a nice sense of belonging and peacefulness in the home and it is great so see our residents interacting with them”
Halloween fun
Jack –o-lanterns ,pumpkin carving is a Halloween favourite for children and adults, turnip or other root vegetables can be used to, but the residents chose a pumpkin it was a lot of fun for all from hollowing it out to choosing the design and trying to carving it, hard work ready for Halloween
Lest we forget
Here at Boroughbridge Manor the residents and staff have come together and created a Remembrance Day display to show that on Remembrance Day, we acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those who served their country and acknowledge our responsibility to work for the peace they fought so hard to achieve.
The residents and staff enjoyed creating this during which they shared stories with one another, and it goes to show how lucky ‘the younger generation’ actually are. Some take things for granted and forget how much the war hero’s did and sacrificed.
This is why as a home we wanted to do such a memorable display, to show how much we appreciate everything that people have and continue to fight for. It’s quite emotional looking at it because so much hard work from the residents and staff has gone into this. Everyone listened to one another’s ideas, and put this together. We hope you enjoy it as much as they do
