Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Residents prepare for Bonfire celebrations
Residents of Boroughbridge Manor are busy preparing to celebrate bonfire night on 5th November. In celebration, the home have been creating table decorations with a bonfire theme using colourful tissue paper to create their centre-pieces and the homes hospitality team will be whipping up a treat on the evening.
Bringing the outside in
Bringing the outside in has never been more important during these times, as the weather is getting colder and the days darker, we spend more time inside safe and warm.
Flower arranging seemed the perfect activity for the residents as it stimulates a number of senses and brings out creativity.
Getting creative for World Mental Health Day
The residents at Boroughbridge Manor care home took part in a number of activities throughout World Mental Health day from arts, crafts, painting and colouring,
Everyone also enjoyed discussions about the different emotions - feelings, moods, fears and sadness but also fun and happiness. It was a good reminiscence session about life and the importance of healthy minds and how important it is to us all
Local Regiment provide helping hands
Community engagement is very important to Boroughbridge Manor Care Home. As they live so close to a Dishforth airfield they asked soldiers from 6 regiment RLC to help brighten up the home by planting the tubs outside the main entrance. What a good job, hopefully they will be able to continue to support the residents in the future. Residents and staff would like to say a massive thank you to the Regiment for their time and support.
Salt dough fun!
The residents really enjoyed creating and having fun with salt dough for their harvest celebrations. Once they had created their designs it was sent to the kitchen for baking and even the hospitality team joined in the fun.
Taking a stroll
Residents enjoy traditional relaxing in the homes garden as they took in the late summer sunshine. For one Resident, Maureen it was an ideal opportunity to enjoy a a stroll around the homes garden!
