Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home
Church service
Derek from Saint Mary's Church Lymm came to Brookfield Care Home to do a wonderful service for the residents, with holy communion. It was so lovely for all the residents to be a part of this special service. We all sang hymns and rejoiced in the Bible. Derek took Holy Communion to Irene Gifford in her room as her daughter was visiting at the time , she was touched and thanked Derek .
Birthday celebrations
"Happy Birthday" to lovely Margaret, 92 years young! Margaret had a wonderful birthday with her friends who all enjoyed having a glass of fizz and cake. Francesca Davis came along to sing in the afternoon which went down as a treat for all
A trip to the garden centre
A visit to High Legh garden centre in Knutsford. Resident, Joan asked if could she go to the local garden centre for a little look around and it was a pleasure for us to deliver this wish.
Joan enjoyed spending time looking around the garden centre choosing what she’d like to purchase. Joan treated herself to a new cardigan in lovely pink for the summer months.
Before departing for home we enjoyed a pit stop in the cafe for a refreshing cup of coffee and a delicious scone. Joan said “she’d had a wonderful
time”.
Star of Nimrod
We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.
Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure. A great time was had by all.
A Live Performance by Francesca
Local songstress Francesca Davies gave a delightful musical performance by singing some wonderful songs of inspiration as we all reminisced. Music lifts the souls and brings smiles to us all!
Throughout the performance we felt like we were listening to the original singer of some very well known favourite songs!
The hard work Francesca puts into a performance really showed, we could listen to Francesca's voice over and over again it’s so good.
Residents loved every minute of the set clapping, tapping and joining in with song.
Home join local radio station
Activities Coordinator Suzanne at Brookfield care home in Lymm recently recorded a Q&A piece as a Special Guest for local radio station - Lymm Radio.
Suzanne invited Head Girl at Lymm High School, Lily - age 15, to meet at Brookfield care home to discuss the advantages of musicality for residents in care homes thereby contributing to the “Kids Live at Five” weekly show. Suzanne shared her experiences of many years as an Activities Coordinator confirming that for many residents music lifts the soul, can change the mood, improve memory, help recall whilst bringing tonnes of fun, entertainment and joy to all.
As Activities Coordinator Suzanne also shared with Lily some coming soon musical events scheduled as part of the life enrichment and activities programme at Brookfield care home including appearances on June 19th from 2:00pm – A Jazz Trombonist & on June 24th The Warrington Ukulele Band will be playing from 2:00pm
