Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home
My name is not Wigs!
We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’. ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!
Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day
Nail Spa Morning
Pamper Spa mornings bring so much joy to us all. New resident Jean loved choosing her varnish colour! Residents thoroughly enjoyed soothing, relaxing hand & arm massages. Vivian went for a shocking pink to match the flower's on her new scarf!
An Audience with Tony Gibbons
Residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of entertainment provided by the brilliant Tony Gibbons!
We enjoyed singing, clapping, toe tapping and the house was full of music and laughter! What a wonderful afternoon!
Visiting the Salvation Army's knitted Exhibition
Residents enjoyed a trip out visit the local Salvation Army this week to view the 70ft long magnificent knitted bible story project
The corps runs a busy programme which includes a breakfast club for people experiencing homelessness, a day centre for older people and a lunch club for anyone in the community to attend.
June and Margaret particularly loved the knitted tulips
Papercraft
Residents enjoy meeting regularly for Craft sessions where they share project ideas and tips with each other. Paper Craft is very popular giving everyone a chance to re introduce favourite past times or learn new skills. People feel a great sense of achievement when they complete various projects
NESCAFE virtual tour
We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.
We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.
To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.
