Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home
Double celebrations
It was a double celebration at Brookfield as colleagues - Patricia Craig and Cath Clutton - both received their prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10 years.
Gift to Salvation Army
Residents, June and Margaret presented Major Vaughan Bovan, church leader of Warrington Salvation Army with a beautiful handmade picture for the prayer room in the church.
Residents had made this homemade gift with bits of material from their craft club. Major Bovan was absolutely thrilled to receive this lovely picture.
Delicious treats
Residents and colleagues at Brookfield were delighted to see Val’s ices pull into the driveway for them to enjoy their popular treat! Val’s ices visits regularly, and the delicious cold treat was perfect as the Summer months come to an end. There were smiles all around!
One new resident remarked, “What a lovely surprise, it’s been a long time since I had an ice-cream from an ice-cream van”
A dog called Edna
We took a gentle stroll to Lymm Dam and made a new friend, Edna the dog!
We watched the world go by and enjoyed coffee from the Avanti caravan
June and Barbara gave Edna doggy treats and lots of attention which Edna loved!
The ladies loved sitting watching the swans swim on the water and the beautiful scenery
A spot of shopping
We love a spot of shopping and this week at Leigh Garden Centre we visited the new shoe shop, Pavers which is well worth a visit to see the great range they have to offer.
After browsing and shopping we all had a Cuppa with delicious cherry scones in the Cafe!
A visit to Community Spirited Cafe, Victors
We took a lovely trip out for a stroll around Orford Park and found a fabulous little Cafe where we stopped for coffee and ices.
Victors Cafe is entirely run by volunteers and supports supporters of The Armed Forces Community Support Charity Reception venue: Wedding Receptions, Birthday parties, Christenings, Meeting Room, etc. Chair Coverings, Table Dressings, Music, Projection Screen, Catering
