Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

International Flower Day

Residents spent a glorious afternoon choosing vases and greenery for a masterclass in floristry.  Residents said they loved the activity and that the 'scent of flowers is everywhere in the home'!

Sewing Bee

Residents enjoy meeting regularly for Craft and Sewing sessions where they share project ideas and tips with enthusiasm.  The Sewing Bee classes are very popular giving everyone a chance to learn new skills and feel a sense of achievement when they complete projects for gifts or as keepsakes such as bespoke tote bags, rag wreaths, pinnies, table place mats and seasonal decorations.

Home links with charitable foundation

Brookfield care home in Lymm, Cheshire is launching three grants totalling £30,000 in the name of a former Barchester resident, Jeanette Gill, who generously donated part of her legacy to Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.  The Foundation is calling for deserving local charities and community groups to apply for these special awards.

Named in her memory, the Jeanette Gill Special Awards are open to groups and individuals in need in our local community, and will be awarded to projects that enrich lives and encourage an active lifestyle through arts, music, sports and culture for older people or adults with a disability, or those that may have challenges with mental health.

There are three awards available:
