Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Local school sends cards

Receiving Christmas Cards from Little Bollington School, Thelwall School & Statham School. Our Residents absolutely loved receiving Christmas Cards from the local schools in Lymm and Thelwall. The beautiful paintings and Christmas wishes in the cards brought tears and smiles of joy to our Residents at Brookfield

Cracker concert

On the 17th December we had an amazing Cracker Concert with Tony Gibbons who is a regular Entertainer at Brookfield.  Our Residents enjoyed every minute, lots of singing,  tapping, clapping and ringing the bells, sensational concert!.   Tony played his guitar and asked residents for requests too.  Our Residents enjoyed their favourite tipple's and warm mince pies with cream.

Wedding belles

Love was in the air as our carer Daniela married her sweetheart Phil on Friday 10th December at St Albans Church in Warrington. It was such a wonderful service attended by family,  friends, staff and residents from the home.  The bride looked stunning in her dream dress of cream ivory lace.  After the happy event, Residents were able to share slices of her delicious wedding cake.  Congratulations to the happy couple.

Decorating the tree

Residents decorated our beautiful Christmas tree in the conservatory with shiny colourful baubles. Margaret, June and Vivienne had so much fun, reminiscing about their childhood days decorating their trees and family traditions. Homemade glitter angels and Father Christmas made of red material and a snowman made of cotton wool look lovely!

Hitting the airwaves

Tuesday 14th December our activities coordinator, Suzanne hit the airwaves with local radio station, Lymm Radio to read a Christmas story to its listeners.  It was a thrill to be live on the air as A Christmas wish was read out aloud.  We even got a little mention too!

Magic of the Nutcracker

We experienced the magic of the Nutcracker with a special interactive workshop led by English National Ballet Associate Artists.

Our residents were able to take a magical journey thorough Edwardian London and to learn more about the enchanted Nutcracker characters: Clara, the Mouse King, and her valiant Nutcracker doll.   The session included a chair-based dance workshop, clips of the ballet on stage and a Christmas carol sing-along, truly enjoyed by all.
