Activities at Challoner House Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Local Pub Visit

Our residents had a lovely time visiting our neighbouring pub, The King Rufus. The staff was extremely welcoming to our group; residents said it was so nice to be able to get out and about enjoying a lovely pint in the beer garden.

Royal Celebrations

Residents and staff had a lovely afternoon celebrating the Queens 95th birthday. The celebrations were a little muted this year due to the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh. Residents enjoyed raising a glass to Her Majesty at a lovely afternoon tea.

Minibus Trips

We are pleased to announce that we are now able to take our residents back out on the minibus following the change in government guidelines given out on 12th March. We have been enjoying trips to the New Forest and to Lee-on-the-Solent Seafront. Residents have been enjoying our travels.

The Power of Flowers

Residents of Challoner House really enjoyed a lovely sensory session with flower arranging. They enjoyed touching, smelling and talking about the beautiful flowers. They were even singing flower-themed songs and finished off with a flower-themed quiz.

Fairground Fun

Residents enjoyed a fun afternoon of playing fairground games. We played games such as tin can alley, target shootout and hoopla. It was nice to hear all the stories from residents about their childhood memories at the funfair.

Easter Fun

Challoner House had a lovely week celebrating Easter. They had a fun craft afternoon marbling eggs for table decorations, a yummy afternoon chocolate tasting, and we also joined the Big Barchester Virtual Easter Quiz. We also received a lovely box of Easter eggs from the local parish church.
