Activities at Challoner House Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Challoner House Care Home
St Patrick's Day
We celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a quiz and beer tasting. Green beer wasn’t the favourite, but everyone had a very good time.
We also made our own St Patrick's Day-themed coasters in our arts & crafts session, which is very good for stimulating creativity and also for hand-eye coordination. On top of that, residents wereproud to show off their creations.
Pet-Assisted Therapy
Honey, our PAT dog, visits residents every Monday. Pet therapy is very beneficial for residents, as it encourages them to be social, aids with anxiety & stress and helps them to recall happy events and memories.
Time for a Cuppa
We had a great morning raising money for Dementia UK. Marlene entertained us and our guests and everyone had a great time!
Zoolab
Everyone really enjoyed our visit from Zoolab. Residents and visitors listened to an educational talk whilst stroking a guinea pig, a tortoise and even a corn snake.
Fish Therapy
We received a new addition to our home: an aquarium. The colours, motion and sounds can serve as a form of therapy to relax residents, stimulate their mind and curiosity and help encourage conversation between residents and loved ones.
Pancake Day
We invited the community to join us on our 'Pancake Day' for delicious homemade pancakes and entertainment with Amanda Parsons. Everyone had a great time singing, dancing and savoring the pancakes with their favourite toppings. Yummmm!
