Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home
Live music performance
The extremely talented Leslie Anne returned to Chater Lodge this week and performed a selection of lively and upbeat mix of songs for residents and staff.
Home made sensory mat
A kind neighbour from our local community, Ewa Tuleja, kindly created a home made sensory mat for one of the residents at the home.
Musical Journeys
The lovely Rachel from Musical Journeys came to entertain us this week with a fabulous amount of costume changes and Autumn-themed tunes.
Arts & Crafts
Residents created a beautiful bird of paradise tree; they painted either a bird or a flower to stick on the tree, and the outcome was absolutely brilliant.
Equine Foxdale Facility
Our final visit of the year to Foxdale Equine Facility was amazing, as always. Doris and Veronica, who have made every visit, were joined by Bet for a wonderful day with the beautiful horses and Brocky & Meg, the dogs that we have become firm friends with.
Tracy Wilson and her team of volunteers have made every visit interesting and engaging and residents have benefited so much from this programme. A big thankyou to Clive, as well, for being our driver at the last minute.
Memory Walk
Our General Manager, Zoe Postgate, and some of our staff took part in this year’s Memory Walk at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough over the weekend. We raised over £300 for the Alzheimer’s Society charity. Well done Zoe, Julia, Annabel, Hannah, Sharon and Michelle.
