Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Sharon Rickman
Hi, my name is Sharon, and I'm part of the activities team here at Corrina Lodge and have worked here for over 20 years. I thoroughly enjoy my job and have achieved an NVQ Level 3 in Activities whilst working here. During my time here, I have met some truly amazing people and I feel privileged to work in a home with such a sense of community.

Life at Corrina Lodge Care Home
Watercolour Art
Residents and staff at Corrina Lodge have been enjoying experimenting with many different art projects over the last few months. Our most recent session was working with watercolours and creating sunset pictures, which we felt for our first attempts were not too shabby at all.
One of our new residents, Roy, is a very keen artist and has kindly offered to help run any future sessions. We will certainly look forward to his expertise. Residents said they found the afternoon really enjoyable and very relaxing.
Green Fingers
The Corrina Lodge garden is really thriving at the moment. The residents here at Corrina are really making the most of the good weather and have been commenting on the varied amount of wildlife that is visiting the garden.
The bees are really enjoying visiting our raised flower beds, particularly the lavender. We have been busy in the garden since the spring and were very kindly donated a selection of young plants for our garden project, including runner beans, a selection of tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, strawberries, marrows, courgettes and even some sweetcorn.
The plants have absolutely thrived, and some of our residents clearly have green fingers. We are looking forward to harvesting some of the produce soon and passing them on to our talented chefs to work their wonders!
Sports Day
Residents and staff at Corrina Lodge enjoyed a brilliant Sports Day together. It was a great success and there was an opportunity to take part in a number of events.
We played football, which included penalty shoot outs. We also had skittles, Tin Can Alley, Hook-A-Duck and hoopla; and not forgetting a very traditional egg and spoon race, in which staff and residents teamed up to run a socially distanced race.
Needless to say, it all got very lively, with some very enthusiastic spectating. This has certainly inspired us as a community and we have been discussing ways in which we can have fun and stay fit. On that note, we are now planning to purchase an adjustable net so that we can embrace our competitive spirits and play some tennis and volley ball over the summer. There’s no stopping us!
Corrina Catwalk
Residents and staff enjoyed an afternoon of fun, music and laughter together, celebrating fashion and culture. Staff came dressed up in their finest attire and hit the Corrina Lodge Catwalk. Some of the traditional costumes were absolutely beautiful. The show made for a vibrant display with a wide mixture of costumes, including a monkey and a lion. Our three resident judges said it was impossible to choose a winner, as everybody looked so fantastic!
Queens Birthday Celebrations
Corrina Lodge enjoyed a very royal knees up and celebrated the Queens special day with her. Her Royal Highness arrived and brought a smile to everyone’s faces at Corrina Lodge. There were some tasty treats to enjoy at the party, including a particularly delicious Victoria sponge. Many of the residents and staff took the opportunity to have a photo taken with her majesty. Pictured is Joan who really got into the spirit and fun of the day. Residents also reminisced and shared some of their wonderful memories of meeting and seeing the Queen, which was lovely!
VE Day Celebrations
Residents and staff at Corrina Lodge joined together to celebrate this year’s very special 75th VE Day Anniversary, which somehow seemed even more poignant in these current times.
There was singing, laughter and reminiscing for many of the residents. We had also arranged for an entertainer to compile a special VE Day DVD for residents to enjoy, which contained some VE Day memories, songs and some special messages from residents family and friends, which had been edited in.
Pictured is Glenys enjoying our traditional street party lunch and keeping the flag flying!
A wonderful time was had by all!
