Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Wear it Pink Day

Corrina Lodge enjoyed a full day of fun. Everyone really got into the spirit of the day and did a great job of raising awareness and funds for breast cancer awareness.

We linked up with family and friends, who also joined us virtually to help raise funds. Families posted their pink photos and we shared our pictures with them.

There was a sweepstake, a pink raffle and a 'pin the beak on the flamingo' game. Our Head Chef provided us with some delicious cakes for all to enjoy.

During the afternoon, there was a special 'wear pink bingo' session, which residents thoroughly enjoyed. We are hoping to raise more funds as the week goes on, but so far so good.

Meet Our RA

Resident Chairman, Mark, continues to be a really warm, positive and supportive member of the Corrina Lodge community.

Mark prides himself on spending time getting to know residents, and in pre-COVID times, their families too, and is always about to welcome new residents.

He also works closely with the activities team and chairs a monthly committee meeting, giving residents an opportunity to share their voices.

Beside the Seaside

Residents shared a wonderful afternoon with lots of laughter and enjoyed a final visit to the seaside before autumn truly sets in.

A fish and chip lunch was enjoyed by all and then we spent an afternoon by the sea, reminiscing and sharing memories and stories together of holidays, strolling along the prom, swimming in the sea, rock pooling and so much more.

We finished the afternoon with ice creams all round and an opportunity for a postcard photo snap!

Roy's Ramblings

One of our lovely residents, Roy, who has recently joined the Corrina Lodge, has kindly shared his wonderful story. Roy said he decided to write down some of his memories and called it, ‘The ramblings of a Geriatric Odd Job Man’.

Roy talks about different stages of his life, from aged 4 and upwards. He has been sharing his evocative tale with his fellow residents, as we have been celebrating literacy in all its colour here at Corrina.

Watercolour Art

Residents and staff at Corrina Lodge have been enjoying experimenting with many different art projects over the last few months. Our most recent session was working with watercolours and creating sunset pictures, which we felt for our first attempts were not too shabby at all.

One of our new residents, Roy, is a very keen artist and has kindly offered to help run any future sessions. We will certainly look forward to his expertise. Residents said they found the afternoon really enjoyable and very relaxing.

Green Fingers

The Corrina Lodge garden is really thriving at the moment. The residents here at Corrina are really making the most of the good weather and have been commenting on the varied amount of wildlife that is visiting the garden.

The bees are really enjoying visiting our raised flower beds, particularly the lavender. We have been busy in the garden since the spring and were very kindly donated a selection of young plants for our garden project, including runner beans, a selection of tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, strawberries, marrows, courgettes and even some sweetcorn.

The plants have absolutely thrived, and some of our residents clearly have green fingers. We are looking forward to harvesting some of the produce soon and passing them on to our talented chefs to work their wonders!
