Activities at Crabwall Hall Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Jacqui Cameron
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

V&A virtual exhibition
We had a lovely time joining Becca Clark and James Wylie – members of V&A Dundee’s exhibitions team – as they took us on a virtual tour of the museum’s incredible Scottish Design Galleries.
We were introduced to the wide range of unique objects at the galleries from architecture and engineering, jewellery and textiles to theatre and their fascinating stories.
And we were able to learn more about the importance of all objects in telling the rich and varied history of Scottish design.
It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all.
Double celebrations at Crabwall
The Head Housekeeper at Crabwall Hall in Chester celebrated her 60th Birthday with staff and residents after working at the home for 27 years.
Kath Bebbington now Head Housekeeper, started at Crabwall Hall in 1994 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Kirsty Jones, General Manager of Crabwall Hall said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 27 years of loyal service with Kath as well as her special 60th Birthday. She has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Crabwall Hall when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with Kath and many happy returns for her 60th birthday!”
Going for gold!
Residents and staff at Crabwall Hall care home, in Chester laced up their trainers and warmed-up for their annual sports day.
Staff took to their marks in the sack, skipping and three-legged races as residents cheered on. Residents had a go at frisbie throwing, hook-a-duck, slipper soccer, hoopla and hula hoop. The events ended with a staff tug of war. The two teams Crabwall Chaos and Crabwall Crusaders battled it out to be crowned sporting champions by Head of Activities, Carolyn Minchew before being treated to a winner’s BBQ of hot dogs, burgers, chips, salad, soft drinks, wine, sherry and Pimms
General Manager Kirsty Jones said: “We always encourage our residents to keep active. With summer on the way we had a great opportunity to move our activities outside to make the most of the weather. Our residents really enjoyed today and it was lovely to see so many of them getting involved. It reminded all of us of when we were kids at school! Well done to residents and staff in team Crabwall Crusaders on their win”
Jean Dennett, a resident at Crabwall Hall, said “As a child I used to always win one race during our school Sports Day and I’m glad I can still take part!”
Beluga Whale Sanctuary
We took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland and visited the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary to have an inside look into the daily care of their two resident beluga whales: Little White and Little Grey.
Our residents were introduced to the history of the Beluga Whale Sanctuary and learnt more about its mission to provide a more natural home for belugas in human care with a first-hand look at how the dedicated team are not only caring for the whales, but preparing for their future in the sea sanctuary!
It was an enjoyable event for everyone, learning more about the amazing beluga whales and how they are cared for at the sanctuary.
Local violinst has residents singing along
Residents today were treated to a lovely violin performance by ‘Elizabeth’ . A small group gathered in our bright and sunny garden lounge to sing along to hits from “Fiddler on the Roof”, “South Pacific” and “Singing in the Rain”. The hour long performance brought back lovely memories and got the beautiful singing voices of our residents working well.
