Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.
We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.
Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

I'm very privileged to work with the wonderful people and residents at Barchester's Cubbington Mill and hope we all make some lovely memories together! I LOVE to find out about residents interests & hobbies through tools like the “Getting To Know Me Booklets”.

Life at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Scots Day
Bruce, Jimmy, Moira, Andrew and his wife celebrated Scots day with a poem, haggis and irnbru whilst reminiscing and remembering everything Scottish from their backgrounds.
In2Cultures
We were all up and dancing to a performance workshop from In2Cultures today, with their African drumming and Bhangra dancing, our amazing care team had the residents twirling to the rhythmic beats. The feedback was so good, we can't wait for them to join us again.
Indoor Bowling
Both of our Barchester Betty’s set off our games afternoon with a neck and neck game of indoor bowling with the assistance of Nishta & Priya. Betty in blue took the lead with Betty in brown coming in hot behind her well done ladies more to follow after lunch.
Passing the Baton in Honour of John
On Friday 22 July 2022, John Farringdon the West Midlands oldest man (109) and his carer companion, Laura Renalson, will meet with fellow batonbearers to collect the baton at a handover ceremony at Lifford Hall, Lower Green, Broadway in Worcester, to start their leg of its historic relay journey.
In preparation for the main event, Barchester homes across the region have undertaken their own baton relay, delivering a replica baton from home to home with the help of their residents and staff. At every location the receiving homes held a party to celebrate its arrival. You can check out each event on the individual home Facebook pages.

On 20th July, residents and staff representatives from the participating homes gathered together at Cubbington Mill to see Victor, a resident from Ashby House personally present the baton to John.
The room erupted with claps and cheers as we wished John all the best for momentous occasion on Friday.
Home Manager; Laura Russell, said: “We’re extremely proud to have John reside within the Cubbington Mill family, he’s such a ‘gentle man’, still very much in awe of the Commonwealth challenge ahead. As he puts it “All this for me? Why? I’m only old”. We love John, and his humility, the honour of carrying the Queen’s baton at his age warms all our hearts.”
Employee of the Month - June 2022
Congratulations to Nishta, Care Assistant at Cubbington Mill Care Home who was chosen by staff and residents to be our Employee of the Month.
Nishta has an exceptional work ethic, great attitude and demonstrated great team work and has stepped up to help in different departments during the pandemic and always.
Nishta has been a fantastic addition to the team and is an absolute pleasure to work with, always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Thank you for going above and beyond for the residents and colleagues. Congratulations!
Suns Out - Water Colours Out
This afternoon after being very brave at the dentist Zoe, Christine and Thelma cooled down in reception by painting some magic pictures from Relish
We had a Robin, Hedgehog and Carrot as they dried they disappeared, to be done over and over again! How good is that and no need to stay in the lines either
Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most as Betty reminisced about doing something similar when she was younger and Christine gave a helping hand to Zoe.
