Activities at The Dales Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Kay Thompson
Hi, my name is Kay and I am the activities coordinator here at the Dales. I joined the team in June 2021 and I love spending time with the residents each day, delivering meaningful activities that keep our residents active and social stimulated, more importantly we have fun! Our life enrichment programme is varied and we have lots to do!
Before I joined the home I was a lecturer teaching young individuals with high needs, it is very different being an activities coordinator but it does help with understand how to ensure everyone is happy each and every day in everything that we do.
I look forward to meeting you when you visit our home.

Life at The Dales Care Home
Employee of the Month - June
Congratulations to Pam Phillips, who was named as our Employee of the Month for June.
Pam works in hospitality as a Hostess. She always goes that extra mile to ensure that the service runs smoothly and that residents are happy with it. Pam is a bright and bubbly character and is friendly with colleagues and visitors alike. Recently we had a chef emergency in the kitchen and Pam stood in and took over with confidence and competence. She is an asset to the team.
A Touch of Glamour
Everyone likes to dress up and look nice and it was great to see our ladies doing just that. They spent time decorating their own hats to show their personalities and to make them feel glamorous and special. Some wore their own shop-bought hats and spoke of the occasions that they were bought for, which brought happy memories flooding back. We all think they look lovely and had such an enjoyable day.

Armed Forces Day
We celebrated Armed Forces Day with a lot of nostalgic memories. We chatted about everyone's experiences and involvement with the armed forces of yesteryear and today. We had a good singalong and a wonderful afternoon with cakes and buns. It was lovely to see residents' families get involved and hear the stories that everyone had to tell.
We thank the armed forces from any generation for the loyalty, bravery and dedication it takes to help keep our Queen and country safe.
Zumba
We had a lovely morning getting up and groovy doing in our Zumba class. The residents all got involved and were definitely ready for lunch after all the exercise.
World Environment Day
On Tuesday 5th June, we celebrated World Environment Day. We spent the afternoon smelling and looking at flowers and herbs to try and guess what each plant was! Residents really enjoyed the activity as we talked about the colours of the flowers and the meals we could cook using the herbs.
