Activities at Dovedale Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Brian Sandham
My name is Brian, I’m the activities coordinator down here at Dovedale. I’m new to the care sector, I’ve been a photographer and photography tutor since 2004 dealing with different ages groups and abilities. I’m looking forward to putting my people skills to good use down here at Dovedale.
I might be new to the care sector but I’m super looking forward to spreading a bit of extra sunshine and cheer around the home.

Life at Dovedale Court Care Home
Johnny Wright Entertains Dovedale Court
Our residents here at Dovedale Court were treated to an afternoon of entertainment from singer and entertainer Johnny Wright. Johnny was recently a singer for the Jerseys who sold out arena’s Worldwide! What a voice and our residents have already asked for him to return.
Valentine's Day at Dovedale
The month of love. Our residents dined together in a fully decorated room, enjoyed a nice meal with wine and followed that with chocolates and a nice coffee.
Cake baking and decorating
Here at Dovedale Court, residents had a cake baking day. We all mixed, whipped, and stirred, prepared our tins, and had them all ready to go onto the oven. After they had baked, we went onto piping and cake decorating. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it! The real highlight of the day was getting to eat them with a nice cup of tea!
Kitchen Class
Today we decided to try our hand at making fluffy fairy cakes. So, out came the ingredients and toppings. The residents had great fun mixing, whisking, whipping and baking lovely cakes, and even more fun eating them later in the day! They were delicious!
A Mystery Tour!
We took a couple of trips out on a mystery tour of Preston. No one knew where we were going. So, armed with a few snack boxes, we hit the road. We went sightseeing around the docklands and finished up at Preston North End football stadium. The trip was enjoyed by all.
An afternoon with singer and entertainer Poppy Holiday
Poppy puts on such a great show! Our residents enjoyed singing, dancing, playing inflatable instruments and joined in with all the games Poppy had to offer. Everyone had a wonderful time and we can't wait to welcome Poppy back again soon!
