Activities at Drummond Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Drummond Grange Care Home

Easter Activities

With social distancing very much in mind now, some residents are delighted to be able to do the activity even if they are on bed rest.

Nutrition & Hydration Week

Our Head Chef, Joao Carlos, and his team managed to put on a delightful spread each day of Nutrition & Hydration Week, which was very colourful.

A Big Thank You

Staff at the Glenlee Unit in Midlothian Community Hospital delivered a box of goodies for the Staff at Drummond Grange.

The message inside the card reads as follows: 'We might not be able to get you free coffee at McDonalds, but we hope this helps. Thank You'.

May we at Drummond Grange take this opportunity to say a big thank you for the lovey gifts and sentiments.

Ice-skating Fun

Team members and residents at Drummond Grange Care Home in Edinburgh enjoyed an afternoon of ice-skating at Murrayfield Ice Rink recently.

The residents had a lovely time on the ice in the safety of their wheelchairs. One of the residents said that she has never tried ice-skating before.

Everyone enjoyed the activity and had a good laugh as they went around the ice rink.

Valentine's Day Celebration

Residents and their partners enjoyed a cream tea on Valentine’s Day. Later in the afternoon they enjoyed a concert with David Hood an entertainer from LeafBug.

Resident Paul Scoular and wife Roseanne celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on the day too.

Burns Night

To celebrate Burns Night we had a day of Scottish themed activities included the History of Rabbie Burns and a Scottish themed quiz. In the evening a piper piped in the Haggis and the ‘Address to a Haggis’ was read out before the residents enjoyed a delicious Burns supper of haggis, neeps and tatties.

The evening then ended with a concert from Ged Hanley who performed a rendition of Scottish music which everyone enjoyed.
