Activities at Drummond Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Drummond Grange Care Home

Beach Wheelchairs Organisation

Residents from Drummond Grange recently visited the Beach Wheelchairs located at North Berwick beach. The Beach Wheelchairs is a charity that believes everyone should be able to enjoy the beach, they offer free wheelchairs and also have a hoist so that there are no barriers to everyone who uses them.

Four of our residents visited recently and absolutely loved the experience, the charity have electric wheelchairs so some of the residents were free to explore the beach by themselves.

Some of the residents said they hadn’t been on a beach in years and never thought they would be able to go on the sand again.  Everyone cant wait to visit again!

Sponsored Walk

Residents, staff and family completed a sponsored walk from Drummond Grange. We walked 3 miles along a local walkway within the countryside. We are raising funds to purchase an interactive ‘Magic Table’ for the residents at Drummond Grange.

One resident from the Memory Lane unit was joined by his daughter, granddaughter and great grandsons on the walk, it was a real family affair.

Come Dine With Us , Come Dine With Us

Come Dine With Us

We held a community engagement ‘Come dine with us’ lunch recently, we partnered up with Midlothian Council who assisted by identifying residents from the local community who would benefit from attending this type of event.

The visitors had a 3 course lunch, they sat with some of Drummond's residents during lunch and enjoyed chatting with them. One of our residents knew a lady attending the lunch from the church she used to attend and was very pleased to see her.

A concert followed the lunch which everyone enjoyed. Our team members prepared a birthday cake for one of the visitors, who recently had his birthday. We hope we could run this event on a regular basis and to connect with the local community.

Hibernian Football Stadium

Residents had a recent tour of the Hibernian Football Stadium in Edinburgh. Lenny is a lifelong Hibs fan and it was a dream of his to visit the stadium. Iain, an avid football fan also accompanied him on the tour. They got to tour the stadium inside and out & both had a great time.
