Activities at Drummond Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Katie Nicolson
Katie Nicolson is our Head of activities here at Drummond since August 2023 beforehand she worked as an activity assistant in the home for two years. Before coming to Drummond Katie has worked in many care roles over the years and studied Psychology and Sociology at Queen Margaret’s University and was awarded a Degree of Bachelor of science in Psychology and Sociology at the start of 2022. Katie loves being part of the Activity department here at Drummond Grange and bringing new and exciting opportunities and experiences to the residents. When she’s not at work Katie is a local Girl Guide leader and youth leader for her churches youth group.

Life at Drummond Grange Care Home
Cheese, Wine & Comedy Night
Residents, staff and visitors enjoyed a cheese & Wine evening that was followed by a visit from comedian, Gareth Waugh. Gareth said that he had performed at many places, but never in a care home before. Residents enjoyed a drink as well as the variety of cheese on offer.
Pancake Day
Residents at Drummond Grange had a lovely time making pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. When the pancakes were ready, they added strawberry sauce, whipped cream and fruit to them. They were then rolled up and cut in half because of how big they were.
Valentine's Dinner & Concert
Residents enjoyed a Valentine's Concert with singer, Stevie Quinn, who is a regular visitor to Drummond Grange. Stevie sang a special song to Margaret and Jim, who are both residents within the Kevock Unit, and recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary here at Drummond.
Great British Care Awards
Congratulations to Julie Wright, who was named winner of the 'Front Line Leadership Award' at the 2016 Great Northwest Care Awards. Well done!
Christmas Spirit
Care staff at Drummond Grange all got into the Christmas spirit by dressing very festive for the day.
Elvis's Birthday Party
Elvis, aka Stevie Cowan from Falkirk, came and sang for the residents and everyone loved him! After he made his big entrance, resident, Rosina, was the first on the floor to dance with him. Charge Nurse, Jim Dean, joined in by playing the guitar to go along with the music. Receptionist, Francis Thomas got some of the dementia residents involved as well by having a dance with a few of them.
