Activities at Elm Bank Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Tina Prosho

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Tina, I have been a team member at Elm Bank since 2023 and began my career as a Team Leader and was upskilled to Head of Care before moving my role to become Activities Coordinator.

I am passionate individual with vibrant character and my goal is all about life enriching activities that enhance the lives of our residents. I ensure that the entertainment is stimulating and is inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home of interest, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities. We are a pet friendly home and fully support the benefits animal therapy can bring to the lives of our residents and welcome animals of all kinds to the home on a regular basis.

Getting to know our residents better is so important to me, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Elm Bank that will make for a richer activities program to be developed. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Elm Bank Care Home

Pumpkin carving for our big display

At Elm Bank care home we are beginning our Halloween activities already, starting with a (slightly) scary film and ghoulish treats this week. We are also carving many pumpkins donated by local people and organisations for display outside our home, to provide a spooky atmosphere for residents, staff and the whole local community.

Flowers from the Co-op

At Elm Bank we feel it is important to keep busy and explore a variety of hobbies. We are always on the lookout for new intellectual and creative learning opportunities for residents. We were recently kindly donated gift vouchers from our local branch of Co-Operative Food, on London Road in Kettering. We used this donation to purchase some beautiful flowers for our monthly flower arranging class. Thank you Co-op!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan coffee morning has always been a chance to open our doors and welcome the wider community into our home. Like so many other celebrations Covid has changed things this year, so our staff brought in homemade and shop-bought cakes instead. At 11am our staff team all stopped what they were doing and had a piece of cake with residents – a lovely opportunity to enjoy conversations over a brew.

100th Birthday Celebrations

Our lovely resident, Doris, celebrated her 100th birthday and was able to be accompanied by all her family in various visits throughout the day! Doris had a fun-filled day with singing, presents, cake and many cards from all over.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Doris was unable to have a group photo taken with all her family, but we were able to take separate photos of her visitors and create a group photo for Doris and her family to keep forever!

New Additions

Meet the newest additions to the Elm Bank family: biscuit the dog and Kevin the cat. They are our robotic pets we have at our home. They help our residents reminisce about their past pets and have proven health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure by stroking.

Sensory Session

Team members organised a special sensory session for the residents, which included hand massages, foot spas, nail painting and relaxing music.
