Reviews for Forest Hill Care Home
What our families say on carehome.co.uk
"My mum has been a resident here for quite a while now, she is very well cared for. The staff are lovely, the food is amazing, they seem to have lots of activities for the residents and go on trips out when possible. I don't think we could find a better place for Mum to be cared for."

"My mum has Parkinson's and Lewy body dementia. She has been a resident at Barchester Forest Hill Care Home since August 2022. I visit her three-four times a week. The home is very well-run, all the staff, from the management down, are approachable at any time to answer your questions and address any concerns. Meetings are held quarterly for family to attend. Everywhere is constantly cleaned, clothing is washed daily. The meals are cooked on the premises and are tasty and nutritional. The nurses and carers are very good and they interact with the patients in a lovely way. The activities are varied and so, something will appeal to everyone. The two maintenance guys keep everything working and the gardens and interior looking great. The home is decorated beautifully for Christmas. My dad and I looked after my mum at home for as long as we could. Now we can visit and still look after her but all the help we need is on hand immediately and that is such a relief. Thank you to all."

"I spent two hours with my mum, yesterday and left really happy. Even though the staff were extremely busy they couldn't have done enough for her, to make sure that she was comfortable and treated with great care. She looked lovely. Mum had all her best clothes on and was sitting in a brilliant all-singing, dancing chair. I supported my mum in eating her Christmas dinner, which looked and smelled fantastic. She ate loads. I just want to let everyone know that Mum is treated with genuine kindness by the staff who engage with her whenever possible even in Polish at times. Thank you from us."

"My father has been in Barchester Forest Hill Care Home since 23/12/2020 and I am pleased to say that I am very impressed with the care and support that he receives. From the care staff to the nurses and even the admin staff they are amazing. He has been known to be aggressive in personal care and also very vocal but the patience shown is remarkable. I often apologise for his behaviour but they say there is no need to as it's his illness, not his fault. The contact with us is very good with regard to changes in medication, any falls he has, witnessed or unwitnessed. They always make us feel welcome when we visit Dad. Dad is always clean and respectable and I cannot do anything but sing the praises of the staff at Forest Hill."

"Excellent care during illness. Care taken to hospital. All staff the full-time staff and management are excellent, very efficient and kind. Complaints were rectified quickly with agency staff. Good atmosphere in the lounge and excellent facilities for Jubilee Day, all the staff took part and it was most enjoyable for residents and families."

"Please do not send your loved ones here. My mum is advanced dementia and despite being badged as dementia specialists they have no idea how to treat residents. My mum is a pescatarian and has been for twenty years but has spent the last fourteen months being fed meat by staff at this home. My mum's wedding ring has been removed from her finger and is now missing. My mum is left to her own devices most of the time and has suffered neglect and alleged abuse which is now under investigation. Their idea of activities is leaving the TV on ITV all day. Music around the home tuned to the local current station to suit staff rather than music to suit the average age of residents. Ironically my mum is a self-funder and pays for this neglect and we are powerless to get her out due to Covid causing admission issues elsewhere so she is suffering in silence and can never be heard due to dementia. Avoid avoid avoid"

"As you are aware, Mum has been with you for over sixteen years. During this time she has had her ups and downs but I can honestly say you have always been there for her. Thanks to each and every member of staff, you've been absolutely great. We now look forward to having more contact with Mum, especially indoors. Many thanks."

"All the staff have been very helpful and explained the situations to me when I have asked questions. Also, they have been very welcoming too, which makes us very at ease during visiting times. I cannot thank them enough. Cannot comment on the rooms as I have not been in them yet."

"My husband was admitted to Forest Hill a day before the big lockdown in March 2020. It could not have been a worse time, but the home, made every attempt to keep me and my family informed by telephone and email. Visiting, as soon as it was allowed, was organised and as frequent as possible. I like the fact that a carer accompanied him as he has trouble hearing and two meters. Sadly my husband has recently passed away, and this was very sensitively handled by the staff."

"Forest Hill Care Home is a well-run facility, credit goes to all the people who work there. The staff and management are caring, loving and helpful. They are dedicated to providing residents with the respect they all deserve. The meals provided are of an excellent standard with plenty of choices. Forest Hill is a very clean, welcoming care home. Both my mum and my brother are residents at Forest Hill, they receive love and care from all who work there. I speak for all my family and say that we wouldn't want Mum or our brother to be in any other place."

"Placement made by the local authority, out of their normal catchment area and their choice could not have been better. It's a real home-from-home offering care which I am unable to do so and I could not have wished for a better placement."

"Very pleased with the care my father has and is still receiving. After a few weeks in hospital, on his return to Forest Hill Care Home, all the staff have gone above and beyond to make sure his recovery is smooth and stressless for not only him but the family as well. You're always greeted with happy faces from all the staff and they always have time for a chat and an update on Dad's condition. His bedroom and bathroom are always spotless as is the rest of the home. Just waiting for his health to improve so he can make use of the beautiful outside area and the many activities and day trips offered to the residents."

"My beautiful mum was admitted to this wonderful care home with terminal lung cancer earlier this week. The level of care and kindness from every single member of staff is absolutely amazing. My mum won't be here for much longer but I am finding comfort knowing she is comfortable and in no pain. I recommend this lovely home for anyone who is looking for somewhere to look after themselves or a loved one. Thank you so much."

"My husband has been at Barchester Forest Hill Care Home since 1st November 2023. We had issues with his previous care home. My husband has settled really well and i feel he is being treated with dignity and care. I can see an improvement with his mood. His Parkinson's and dementia are progressing. The staff listen to my concerns regarding weight loss. He has been seen by the doctor within a few days. I feel so much happier knowing he is being cared for and when I phone I am always reassured."

"We moved my father from another care home which wasn't meeting his needs. Barchester Forest Hill Care Home is fabulous, it is clean, the food is amazing, the staff are well-trained and very approachable and happy in their workplace. They had a garden party last Saturday which was great, live music, stalls, food, my dad loved it. His bedroom at Forest Hill is beautiful, he has all his own pictures in there, put up by Forest Hill's handyman who is marvellous. All the residents seem really happy here and the staff are lovely. I can sleep at night knowing our dad is in safe hands and being cared for extremely well. Amazing care home with amazing staff, from the reception staff, manager to ward staff. Five-star."

"My mum has now been a resident at Barchester Forest Hill for over sixteen years. She has always been treated with compassion by all the staff. She is happy in Forest Hill and considers it "home", everyone makes an effort to communicate with her with a smile and kind words. For myself, I feel secure in the knowledge I can call at any time to get an update on how she is feeling and also get to speak to her over the phone, and by Skype or WhatsApp. I am also very happy that I can now see her again. The home has made an amazing achievement keeping Covid so low."
