Activities at Fountains Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Louise Crooks
Hello I am Louise, my first role with Barchester was caring for our residents. Previously I worked in an early years environment for 17 years where I organised activities and events. I am thrilled to now be Activities Lead and being able to continue enriching the life’s of our lovely residents here at Fountains.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Fountains Care Home

National Puzzle Day
This activity has proven to be a great hit within the home. We have so many residents, family, friends and staff getting involved sharing their passion and enjoyment for our puzzled pieces. They were able to complete 3 jigsaws (500 pieces) within 24 hours!! Well done guys!!

Burns night
Celebrating in style! Here at fountains we had the brilliant performance from Vee, who sang and played beautiful Gaelic music to everyone with her wooden wind instruments. Our residents became very engrossed and really enjoyed themselves. They enjoyed being able to share their interest in poetry and information that they knew about Robert Burns.

Origami crafts
What a peaceful evening for our residents who got very creative with exploring the different techniques when creating their own origami designs.
We used the helpful you tube videos on who to create boats and different types of jet planes. This activity helped our residents become focused and reminisce to their younger years of paper planes.

Visiting Shirley aquatics at Becketts farm!
A nice relaxing trip to Shirley aquatics, our residents enjoyed being able to relax and view the wide variety of fish and reptiles they have on display. Being able to talk to their staff members and learn more about the different breeds was very interesting. of course whilst we were out we stopped off at Becketts cafe for nice hot refreshments and homemade muffins.

Train explorers
Here we have two of our gentlemen who have a high interest in trains and stations. Off we went to our local station of Dorridge which opened in 1852. Whilst there we adventured into the waiting room, which has been restored to its former glory. At the station we managed to look at the different locomotives that came though looking at their destinations. It was pointed out by one of the gentlemen that the trains were all on time, to which he founds this amusing. Once we had explored the station, we stopped for a warm refreshments and homemade cakes.

Baking rainbow muffins
On our Olton floor, our resident bakers have been busy with using their own senses to bake rainbow muffins. Our residents showed a high interest, when exploring the different ingredients, this was a great opportunity in which some began to share and reminisce about who they would bake for and what they enjoyed baking. With our muffins in the oven, this was a fantastic time to talk about different flavours, we even voted for our own favourite flavours… yes carrot cake and lemon drizzle were at the top!
