Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

A Visit to Chatham Historic Dockyard

What a brilliant time we had visiting the Chatham Historic Dockyard, some of our residents got the opportunity to explore the dockyard from jumping on board the ships to looking at underground exhibitions, albeit slightly windswept we’d expect no less for a ship!   We were joined by Linda who told us all about the history of the Dockyard and how things had changed over the years.   Thank you so much for having us Linda, we can’t wait to come again soon!

Birthday Celebrations!

Such a wonderful time we had recently celebrating one of our residents birthdays, we hope he had a wonderful day!

Thank you so much to Not King Cole for performing a beautiful Medley of different music, it really got everyone up on their feet.

Our residents love dancing and this was no exception, smiles could be seen everywhere!

Easter Baskets

We had a lovely time on Good Friday putting together our Easter Baskets and decorating the cookies our lovely chef Woody prepared for us.

Our residents loved putting their baskets together, filling them with eggs and chicks.

Then, on Sunday all our residents got their Easter Eggs!

Easter Service with Chatham Evangelical Church

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful Easter Service from the Chatham Evangelical Church.

The residents got the opportunity to hear about the meaning of Easter and the story of Jesus.

Residents loved singalong to the hymns and especially enjoyed watching the children play their instruments.

Overall the day was a great success and residents had so much fun.

Armchair Exercise with Hannah

What a lovely visit from the amazing Hannah, so much fun getting ourselves moving to the music!

Hannah even brought a wonderful helper Isabella who the residents absolutely loved spending time with, some of the residents didn’t want her to leave!

Residents got the opportunity to get their arms and legs moving and have a lovely opportunity for socialisation with other residents.

Mothering Sunday

On Mothering Sunday all our Ladies received a small bouquet of flowers to celebrate them being a mother.

For those who were mothers it was a celebration of their life before and after having their children but for those who didn’t have children it was a celebration of them and all they’d achieved as a lady.

We then had a lovely sing along with Ceiron Not King Cole who sang some beautiful songs which we loved joining in with!
