Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Glebefields Care Home
Grandparents' Day Celebrations
On Grandparents' Day, we celebrate all the amazing grandparents who bring love and wisdom into our lives! Your presence means so much to us. One of our residents had a special visit from her great-granddaughter, and they shared smiles and special moments together. To make the day even more wonderful, we all enjoyed delicious chocolate cupcakes and a cosy evening tea. What a lovely and unforgettable celebration of family and creativity!
Happy Birthday 'Pam'
We had a lovely celebration for Pam's birthday, complete with cake, birthday songs, and surprise gifts. Here's to a year filled with happiness and great times ahead!
Motor Museum Magic
We were privileged to host a lovely visit from the British Motor Museum, featuring a mesmerising presentation on historical artefacts and a talk about vehicles of the past.
Our residents had the opportunity to reminisce about their own cars and reflect on the significant changes in automotive technology over the years, such as the transition from cranking the engine to the modern convenience of turning a key. This event provided a meaningful opportunity for shared stories and a journey down memory lane, creating a truly special day for all.
Macmillan Chai, Coffee, Cake!
We had a fantastic time at our Macmillan Chai, Coffee, Cake, and Asian Nibbles gathering! Everyone loved trying out the different flavours, and we had a sweet surprise as Elizabeth from Drayton village guessed the exact number of sweets in the jar—101
The best part is, we raised a wonderful £248.40 during our Macmillan morning, and we're still accepting donations. Every contribution goes a long way in supporting a worthy cause. Thank you to all our wonderful attendees who made the event so special. Let's keep the community spirit alive and the support flowing!
Wedding wishes fulfilled and magical memories made
On 26th August 2023 Joseph Wetherall and his beautiful bride-to-be Claire Busby joined friends and family for their marriage at The Church of St Mary the Virgin in Fawsley, Northamptonshire, England.
The day was perfect in every way but for one notable absence amongst the guests; Claire’s Grandmother Amelia McCormick.
Keen to have her grandmother part of the big day, Claire and Amelia’s daughters; Mandy and Angela spoke to the care home where Amelia resides to arrange for a second ceremony to be held at Glebefields care home in Drayton, Banbury the following month.
The homes main dining room became the venue for Joe and Claire’s second wedding party and champagne reception. Amelia dressed in Royal Blue for the occasion and beamed with pride as Claire entered the room in her stunning wedding dress complete with ‘peaches and cream’ hand tied rose bouquet.
Wedding guests included Amelia’s husband John, daughter Mandy and her two children; son Max and bridesmaid Amy, mother and father-of-the-bride Angela and Mark Busby alongside bride Claire, husband Joe and their son Jacob; Great Grandson of Amelia and John.
Amelia’s fellow residents and staff at Glebefields filled the dining hall to complete the wedding party. Claire’s mum Angela and the homes hospitality team prepared the wedding buffet which included saved wedding cake, enough for everyone to enjoy.
Home Manager; Nisha Shaji said: “There were tears of joy all round as the happy couple entered the room, it was the most joyous occasion, and the smile on Amelia’s face when she saw Claire said it all. She was a picture of happiness.
Being able to facilitate the ‘second wedding’ at Glebefields was such an honour for the home, our residents and staff.”
Amelia’s daughter Angela said; “The home were super supportive going above and beyond to make the day so magical. Being able to gather together with mum in celebration of Joe and Claire’s wedding has given us all lasting memories.
Capturing each moment with our wonderful mum Amelia as the special guest on the happiest of days completed Claire’s wedding album in style.”
National Day of Arts in Care Homes
Picture a week filled with art and celebrations in care homes, leading up to the big National Day of Arts in Care Homes, all organised by NAPA – The National Activity Providers Association. NAPA is the UK's top charity dedicated to promoting and making activities and engagement happen.
NAPA is all about making life better for people in care homes through arts and creative stuff. This year, our theme was #Reflections, so we thought about what we've learnt. We worked with our friends in care and the arts to keep bringing arts into care, making sure everyone feels good.
We've been big fans of arts in care places and telling everyone how it helps people feel better. Our week was full of fun, making and doing cool stuff! It was all about being creative and having fun together!
