Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

'Sisters Day' Celebrations

On the 4th August we celebrated 'Sisters Day' at Glebefields. A day in which to celebrate one of those very special bonds, one that has sparked many stories, movies, and songs - the bond of sisterhood.

If you don’t have a sister in your life biologically, you may have someone who has become like a sister to you, and this is the perfect day to pay tribute to that. There are also half-sisters and stepsisters, sisters come in many different shapes and guises, Sisters Day is about celebrating them all!

Today our residents shared their sister stories with each other, and talked about what they did with their sisters when they were younger, like going to school and dances together. Staff organised a lovely party with plenty of sweet treats and one of chef's special cakes to share.

General Manager, Nisha said: “Residents at Glebefields were keen to get involved in Sisters Day celebrations. It was lovely for the residents to be able to spend quality time reminiscing and sharing stories of their sister siblings. I think it made everyone realise just how amazing it is to have such special sisters.”

All things Yorkshire!

What could be better than a cuppa as we celebrate all things Yorkshire on Yorkshire Day.

Yorkshire Day was first celebrated in 1975 in Beverly and today, Carer; Tracey provided our residents with a plethora of information all about Yorkshire courtesy of the Oomph activity pack.

We learnt about famous poets and their works to the many stunning landmarks and areas of interest across the Yorkshire dales and moors. Our residents discussed Yorkshire delicacies such as Yorkshire puddings and ales, Wensleydale cheese, rhubarb and even their like or dislike of liquorice and Yorkshire bitter!

Exploring People's Park

Our residents love exploring Banbury and with the beautiful ‘People’s Park’ on our doorstep it seemed the perfect place to visit. With break in the recent rainy weather staff from Glebefields took residents; Tom, Stanley, Pam and Helen for a little drive out.

People’s Park is a place loved by generations of Banbury families, it’s a place where people of all ages go for relaxation, peace and play. The park is full of colour with blossoming flower beds and fabulous facilities including an aviary, war memorial and bowling green.

Our residents enjoyed meeting so many people and absolutely loved the birds. Our staff had fun the fitness zone and everyone had a super lunch in the ‘Heart of the Park’ Peoples Park café. We would highly recommend you visit this wonderful little gem of a park and take a break in the café.
