Activities at Glenroyd Care Home

Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Agata Prendota

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.

It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home

Trip to Stanley Park

Our beautiful garden is filled with seasonal flowers chosen by Residents each year. We have some of our resident’s favourite flower species that represent memories of their gardening times. The colourful environment of our garden brings joy and positive feeling of nature that our residents are surrounded by.

Today, as the springtime weather spoiled Blackpool with sunshine and clear sky, Residents at Glenroyd Care Home have enjoyed an afternoon garden party. There was a lot of joy and happiness during that time. Residents have enjoyed spending time together while they have been served with ice creams, drinks and the specials loved by everyone- DOUGHNUTS!

Conversations by the Pond

We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.

Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.

The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.

St George's Day

We would like to wish everyone a Happy St George’s Day!  We hope you celebrated and had the best day as much as we did here at Glenroyd, from both residents and staff.

Royal celebrations

Royal celebrations have taken place this week at Glenroyd, as we celebrated Our Queen’s 96th Birthday. Along side the royal birthday, we also celebrated ‘National Tea Day’.  To mark such a special day, we invited everyone for a Royal Afternoon Tea!

There was a lot of singing and dancing, Flag waving and smiling face’s throughout the afternoon.  Everyone enjoyed the delicious cakes and a nice cup of a tea with various choice of flavours to chose from!

Happy retirement!

Today at Glenroyd we say farewell to one of our chief’s, the lovely Joan.   We would like to thank Joan for all her hard work and dedication whilst being here at Glenroyd. You will certainly be missed by both residents and staff. So from all of us here at Glenroyd, we wish you a very big Happy Birthday and a Happy Retiremen
