Activities at Hazel Lodge Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Sonia Teixeira
I am thrilled to be part of the team at ‘Hazel Lodge’ and to use the large range of experience I have from within the care sector.
As the Activities co-ordinator I have a real passion for promoting individual well-being and life enrichment and work closely with residents and their families, planning activities and events that they would like to participate in.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Summer Evening Mocktails
Residents and staff enjoyed a lovely summers evening chatting and laughing whilst enjoying a mocktail or two! This one was Sonia's Surprise and it was delicious .
Tour De Barchester Visit
Our residents welcomed the cyclists that are completing the Tour De Barchester.
Over four days, from June 6th- 9th, a team of Barchester staff cycled a mammoth 276 miles from Exeter to Purley, stopping at 15 care homes across Barchester’s South division to meet well-wishers, have a well-earned break and refuel before continuing on their way.
Their aim was to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.
Well done to you all from Hazel Lodge
Fathers Day
A time to reflect and remember our fathers .
Move it or Lose it
There were lots of smiles and laughter in our Move it or Lose It session with Lucy. We all know exercise is good for our physical and mental wellbeing , top that with a fit of the giggles and there's no stopping us !
Intergenerational Opera
We are really excited to be buddying up with Battle Abbey School to take part in a intergenerational singing project to bring older and younger people together . The project is run by Charlotte Wicks of Intergenerational Opera and runs over a 5 week period, with the children from the school visiting the residents at Hazel Lodge every Friday to learn the story of Hansel & Gretel in song . The original fairytale written by The Brothers Grimm was adapted into an opera by composer Engelbert Humperdinck and was first performed in Germany in1893 .
Each week we learn the songs together and recreate this wonderful story , with twit-twoos , hoots and howls. At the end of the 5 weeks the children and residents will bring together everything they have learnt and put on a final performance for their families at Hazel Lodge.
Watch our Garden Grow
William really enjoyed getting in the greenhouse this week and getting his tomatoes planted. We can't wait to taste them later in the summer.
