Activities at Hazel Lodge Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Sonia Teixeira

Activities Coordinator & Dementia Champion

I am thrilled to be part of the team at ‘Hazel Lodge’ and to use the large range of experience I have from within the care sector.

As the Activities co-ordinator I have a real passion for promoting individual well-being and life enrichment and work closely with residents and their families, planning activities and events that they would like to participate in.

National Biscuit Day

Residents celebrated National Biscuit Day by baking some delicious cookies in the home . The smell of the freshly baked treats filled the home and residents and staff couldn't wait for them to come out of the oven so they could try them !

Out and About in May

What a difference a month makes....with the longer, brighter days we've been hopping on and off the Hazel Lodge minibus and exploring the beautiful East Sussex countryside ( and even hopping over the county line to Kent ). We've visited Ashburnham Place , Hawkhurst Fish Farm , Merriments Gardens , Pett levels and Bexhill Sea front to name just a few of our adventures.

Gardening Club - May

It's been a busy month for our green fingered residents , our first gardening club involved an inspection of the beds and a planning meeting with Richard our gardener and then it was all hands on deck to start with the planting . Residents decided that they would like a mix of flowers and vegetables and have planted runner beans , lettuce, tomatoes, dahlias and gladioli to name just a few .

Never too late to Learn

We love being able to offer our residents new experiences,  last week was no exception when they were given the chance to try their hand at playing the Ukulele.
Thank you to Sally who came along to give our budding George Formby fans some private tuition and a fun afternoon.

Friends Altogether in Rother

We love being able to support our local community groups and when Chris from FAIR asked if we could help with a cake for an event we jumped at the chance . Friends Altogether in Rother is run by volunteers and it was a great way for us to say Thank you for all the amazing work they do .

Ladies Day

What better way to celebrate Ladies day than to pop open the bubbly and celebrate in style . The day started with our ladies enjoying a pamper session in the hair salon , followed by a lovely 3 course lunch prepared by our hospitality team. With the sun shining residents gathered on the patio looking very fancy in their fascinators to enjoy a chilled glass of fizz . What a perfect way to spend the day
