Activities at Hazel Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Opera in the Garden

What a wonderful afternoon of delicious canapes, Pimm's, prosecco and cocktails. The sun was definitely shining and we thankfully stayed nice and cool while we were entertained by the duo.
We were joined by the local community, residents and relatives.
Thank you so much to all those who attended, we had a blast.

Full Swing for Winnie

Wow what an incredible afternoon we had when we took one of our residents to play golf.
But this wasn't just any old game of golf, this was a very memorable reminder of time spent with her husband. Winnie's husband was Brian Huggett MBE.
Brian was a very successful professional golfer, playing on many tours including the Ryder cup. It's fair to say that golf was a part of their life together and Winnie has fond memories of joining him on the golf course and becoming a keen golfer herself.
Since moving to Hazel Lodge after Brian's passing, Winnie has talked about her golfing days with Brian with huge fondness. We contacted our local golf club Beauport Park Golf and Country Club who kindly invited us to join them with a guided visit around their course. Winnie was absolutely fantastic and definitely beat our Administrator Matthew who challenged Winnie to a game....and lost!
Winnie would very much like to come back and work on her game, she was so very happy for the opportunity to play again.
Thank you so much Beauport and Roger. You were all so kind with your time.

Launching our Dementia Disco

We recently held first Dementia Disco at Hazel Lodge . Dementia Disco is a proven way of connecting people living with dementia to a time in their lives which was special to them. By playing selective songs from their past, such as wedding songs, a favourite band they saw live or a song they used to sing at the top of their lungs with their girlfriends, it transports them to this time. The impact of music on all of us is magical.
We all had such a fun afternoon dancing and singing away. We were joined by many of our team , including Head Chef Guy, senior carers Megan and Marie and Megan our activities coordinator. Thank you to senior carer Rose and her husband mark, who were our DJs

Feeding our local Firefighters

We recently took a trip to the Battle fire station to give these hard worker firefighters homemade cakes and cookies. The firefighters gave our residents a tour of the station and a talk on their facilities and equipment. We had a talk on the history of the station, including some of the original helmets.
