Activities at Henford House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.
Debbie Phillips
I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Life at Henford House Care Home
St David’s Day
To celebrate St. David’s Day our Welsh resident got together with our chef to offer a special Welsh dish for the residents to enjoy. Many opted for the Cawl and not to forget it was also Shrove Tuesday, so traditional pancakes were on the dessert menu.
Valentine's Day
Residents were swarmed with beautiful decorated hearts created by the children from Barney Lodge Day Nursery. Lisa and Tracy arrived at Henford with boxes of biscuits and Valentine's art work, which the residents enjoyed observing, followed by a delicious romantic meal made by our home's chef.
At supper time love was in the air with a piano sing along with Sophie Eden singing many romantic songs!
Donation of Hanging Basket
We are happy to announce that the home delivered a beautiful hanging basket to the Wessex MS Therapy Centre, created by our residents during their weekly gardening club.
Wessex MS Therapy Centre
The Wessex MS Therapy Centre has benefitted from vital funds thanks to a Christmas raffle held at Henford House.
General Manger ,Charles Osgood, presented the donation to centre's manager Rosie Eliot and after a tour of the centre said he was very impressed with the facilities for the community.
An empty space for a hanging basket was noticed, so Charlie suggested the home's gardener would run garden club with the residents to provide them with a lovely hanging basket.
Garden stroll!
Its chilly but dressed up warmly its great to get some fresh air, just look at the smiles! Our gardener Kathryn is still working it the garden preparing it for spring and enjoyed a chatting with residents over plans for the coming months
We planted a tree for the Jubilee!
To celebrate her Majesty's platinum jubilee this year Mary our oldest resident at 101, planted a tree for the Queens's Green Canopy
Staff and friends, including Michelle & Lynette who were treated to a 'royal wave' from Mary as the tree settled into its new home! The UK-wide tree planting initiative is inviting people to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. We have uploaded our new tree to the QGC map for the world to see.
Thank you to our gardener Kathryn who prepared the plot for a Acer pseudoplatanus 'Brilliantissimum' tree
